Weekend Read 5 August 2023

Weekend Read 5 August 2023

We are emotional beings, there can be no doubt about that, and for those of us who are super-sensitive life can often be difficult as we struggle with our innermost feelings, which can so often leave us reeling.  If I am to respond to your emails from last weekend about purpose, please let me reiterate that we each have a purpose and I absolutely know that there are times when we undermine ourselves, but in the vast majority of cases this is because we have been undermined by others, which I touched on last weekend.  I’m not going to cut my words here, this is mental cruelty, which so often leads to mental illness.

Of course I have extraordinarily strong views about this because I am writing from experience, I always do, but I don’t have victim mentality and neither am I bitter.  I am not going to tell you that any of this has been easy, because it most certainly hasn’t, but I will not accept that we don’t have purpose, because we do.  Each and every one of us, and if nothing else, that purpose is enablement.  To enable and support another human being is an honour and a privilege, no matter how big, no matter how small.  Enablement drives me, as does the truth.  Which leads me to this:

Many of you will have watched the latest live from Trinny and Shabir, where they were talking about gut health.  If you missed it, I am linking it again below, but following through on that, and leaving the recommended products on one side for the moment, I asked Trinny about her purpose and she was very clear that her purpose is to help women feel great about themselves, and I know that to be true because she has enabled so many women, not least the Trinny Tribe, to understand various health concerns in an ongoing series of lives with Shabir, for which I am so incredibly grateful.  So, with that said, I have more Trinny news for you.

Trinny has written a book.  It will be released in September and it’s called Fearless, which is somewhat apt bearing in mind the words we have been sharing recently.  I have absolutely no intention of writing my own words about this book, because I cannot better Trinny’s words: ‘Throughout my life, I have encountered fear and I know how much it has stopped me in my tracks.  I want every woman to be able to move forward, to feel empowered at every stage of their lives’.  And I think we can all relate to that statement.

I will end this section by saying that I have personally known Trinny for many years and our friendship has nothing whatsoever to do with any commercial arrangement between us, because there is no commercial arrangement between us.  In a way it saddens me to have to write these words, but we have both been targeted by the many who just don’t understand that we are not wearing price tags.  It is not who we are together, and with that said I am linking Trinny’s book below if you want to pre-order it, together with the live on gut health and the final link is to the entire series of the Trinny & Shabir Lives, of which there are many.

Right, I have news and it is big news because after writing that I would be telling you about two supplements that would blow everything else of the water in the fullness of time, one of them has arrived, which is a rather novel experience because it arrived ahead of time.  I received confirmation after the publication of last weekend’s newsletter, so we have yet another episode, in a long line of them, where I need to make an adjustment to words previously written.  But actually, I don’t think you will mind at all because the product I am talking about is our bestselling supplement, namely Hyaluronic Acid Capsules High Strength.

I think many of you will remember when Shabir recently increased the strength of HA in order to deliver this important nutrient to the body based upon research.  But research is ongoing and he decided to investigate how, in addition, we could increase HA’s absorption from the gut into the bloodstream, and it has been done, so please allow me to explain. It’s a little bit scientific, so please bear with me, but what I will say is that HA continues to stand alone in its genre and efficacy.  In our researched opinion.

Hyaluronic Acid is a specific glycosaminoglycan and studies indicate that these group of compounds can be made hundreds, if not thousands, of times more bioavailable when combined in formulations containing BioPerine®.  BioPerine® is a patented, black pepper concentrate standardised to contain Piperine, the active compound of black pepper.  When you take a supplement containing Hyaluronic Acid, the body’s enzymes break down much of this into components ready for excretion.  Piperine boosts HA absorption and its bioavailability by inhibiting these enzymes, enabling HA to be absorbed in a more efficient manner.  And that makes a huge difference in its efficacy.

I am so incredibly excited by this advancement, not least because HA is such a crucial supplement.  I’ve been writing that for more years than I care to remember, so I think we should celebrate this new formulation as best we can, which translated means that when you buy HA, we will automatically include the travel size HA (15 capsules), which is worth £17.50.  Three things here, I could have increased the price of HA based upon this advancement, but I haven’t, the second thing is that the travel size HA is the new formulation, which is important, and the third thing is that there is only one gift per customer, lest a riot.  Which would not be cute.  Or fair.
Hyaluronic Acid Capsules High Strength £35 for 30 Capsules + Travel Size Hyaluronic Acid Capsules High Strength (15 Capsules) Free; (offer ends at midnight BST, Sunday 6 August or whilst stock lasts)

Pioneering is at the heart and soul of who and what we are and just to say that Turmeric Curcumin C3 Complex, which we launched earlier this year, also contains BioPerine®.  Curcumin C3 Complex is a premium and patented form of curcumin which has been studied extensively and as such it has been shown to have the highest absorption of any curcumin on the market, with a 95% absorption of curcuminoids, further enhanced with the addition of BioPerine®.  Shabir does the facts and I know I lowered the price of all VH products last weekend, but we are celebrating BioPerine®, so let’s continue celebrating by dropping the price of Turmeric Curcumin C3 Complex from £26 to £23.
VH Editorial: Turmeric: The Spice With Health Benefits; Turmeric Curcumin C3 Complex £23 for 60 Capsules (offer ends at midnight BST, Sunday 6 August)

If I may, I would just like to return to the video on gut health which was recorded after I had written last Saturday’s newsletter.  I tend to write the Weekend Read at the beginning of each week, so I just tagged a paragraph onto the end of what I had already written, but I have a few more things to say here.  Whenever Trinny and Shabir get together, there is always a subject matter, but there is no script, there are no rehearsals and they just go into the live session where anything can happen and they go off-topic often.  This was evidenced when Shabir started talking about the importance of Co-Enzyme Q10, which was, coincidentally or otherwise, already on the Weekend Read.

The discussion centred on the fact that in other countries, such as France, America and Canada, Co-Enzyme Q10 is widely prescribed alongside statins. There is no doubt that we should follow that lead, but we are far behind in our thinking and this has to be addressed, for our own safety if nothing else.  Anyway, it is what it is, but we should really campaign for this, if only to give an understanding that nutrients have an important role to play alongside prescribed medication.  And because that role is so important, I am highlighting it once again by extending the offer of Super Ubiquinol from last weekend, albeit there is now a wait list, but we will honour all orders placed.
VH Editorial: Choosing The Right Co-Enzyme Q10; Super Ubiquinol Co-Enzyme Q10 with Enhanced Mitochondrial Support by Life Extension £42 for 60 Softgels (drops from £45) (offer ends upon receipt of stock, which we anticipate being approximately ten days, although I’m hoping it arrives sooner)

Staying with the contents of that video, many health concerns and products were mentioned, so I would like to dig a little deeper and I will begin with Leaky Gut Syndrome.  Leaky Gut Syndrome is a gastrointestinal concern which is poorly understood by many, including those who are unaware that such a condition exists.  In short this is an intestinal problem in which the lining of the gut becomes permeable, resulting in numerous problems including bloating, gas, joint pain, tiredness, skin rashes, food sensitivities and abdominal cramps.

Leaky Gut is a complex concern because it could be mistaken for many other gastrointestinal concerns, yet intestinal infections are thought to be a leading cause of Leaky Gut as are environmental pollutants and toxins which can damage the intestinal lining.  Shabir takes an in-depth look at Leaky Gut Syndrome and the root causes of this concern, one of which is the overuse of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, often used to alleviate pain.  And because we seek solutions, Shabir recommends supplementing with L-Glutamine GI Complex, as linked below, in order to help repair the gut as best we can.
VH Editorial: Leaky Gut Syndrome; L-Glutamine GI Complex by Lifeplan £16.99 for 60 Capsules (drops from £21.79)

Let’s continue with the cause and effect of poor gut health and I now want to talk about skin eruptions that can often occur because of constant inflammation in the gut, which can lead to a damaged lining, as I’ve written above.  In its most simplistic form, this damaged lining means that undigested food can sometimes pass through into the bloodstream, causing skin eruptions.  I can’t remember how many years we have been recommending Clear Skin Complex and we will continue to do so because we don’t believe that anything really comes close to this specifically formulated blend of skin targeted botanicals, key minerals and antioxidant carotenoids.

Sitting in a base of digestion-boosting probiotics, we recommend taking a three-month course of Clear Skin Complex, because there are no overnight fixes here and these things take time.  Notably, Shabir has written an entire article about Clear Skin Complex, which I will link below, but that aside he specifically mentioned that it could help to address rosacea in his discussion with Trinny.  So, I’m taking the price of Clear Skin Complex down from £27.60 to £25 and we might as well recommend a topical product formulated to help skin prone rosacea and that product is Rosalique’s 3 in 1 Redness Miracle Formula SPF 50, which drops in price from £29.99 to £27.
VH Editorial: How To Get Clear Skin; Clear Skin Complex by Viridian Nutrition £25 for 60 Capsules; 3 in 1 Redness Miracle Formula SPF 50 by Rosalique £27 for 30 ml (offers end at midnight BST, Sunday 6 August)

I will continue this discussion next weekend because there is still much to talk about, but if there was a star product of the entire video, it was Daily Gut by Jerms.  Trinny is taking it, Shabir is taking it and although we only launched this product a few short weeks ago, it really does deserve the recognition it has now received.  Recognition for a small, niche brand is something we really strive for, most especially when that given product out-performs other well-known brands.  I don’t feel the need to name them, but this is an exceptional gut health powder delivering probiotics, prebiotics, digestive enzymes, organic superfoods and vitamins for optimal digestive health.
Daily Gut by Jerms £25.99 for 180 grams

A couple of weeks ago I wrote about Zap-Ease, a clever little tool which has been clinically proven by the London School of Hygiene & Medicine to relieve the itching caused by mosquito bites, jellyfish and nettle stings.  By repeatedly clicking Zap-Ease in the area of the bite, the poison is localised and the production of histamine, which causes the itching and urge to scratch is reduced, neutralising the toxicity of the bite with no harmful effect on the surrounding skin.  Anyway, the demand was extraordinarily high and it went out of stock, but it is back in stock now and I am retaining the lower price point of £6.40.
Zap-Ease Instant Bite Relief £6.40 (drops from £7.99) (Warning: Do not use on children under the age of two or if you have a pacemaker)

I am a consumer.  We are all consumers and although that might sound a bit strange because of what I do, there is an absolute truth in that statement because I always write from a consumer’s point of view, which often gets me into trouble with brands, but I don’t really care.  I have always taken the view that if a brand is rude and dismissive to me, then they are rude and dismissive to each of us, which is something I will not tolerate.  There is no excuse for arrogance and no product, or brand, is indispensable, and over the years that has been demonstrated by choice.  Because we all have the right to choose.

Sorry, I didn’t mean to have a podium moment, but I just did, but as a consumer there are often products that I didn’t know I needed, until I realised that I did.  I am of course talking about the Silk Sleep Eye Mask which I wrote about last weekend.  I have never used an eye mask, with the exception of Spacemasks, which are completely different, but I did test the Silk Sleep Eye Mask and as a result of that, I am now totally in love with it, which I think I said last weekend, but never mind that, I often repeat myself when I get excited about something.

And because I am a consumer, if something needs to be shared, then I will share it.  Given that I can only wear one eye mask at a time, and mine is Midnight Blue, I asked if I could test The Sleep Candle, which rather appealed to me, so it might appeal to you too.  Dubbed as ‘the Drowsy Candle’, it has been blended with Cedarwood, Bergamot, Ylang Ylang and Wild Lavender to help soothe the senses.  It has a woody, musky fragrance and it can be used as part of a night-time ritual as we prepare ourselves for sleep.  A restful sleep.  Made even more restful because I am still honouring the launch price of the Silk Sleep Eye Masks, which is £58, down from £69.
The Sleep Candle by Drowsy (Twin Wick) £63 for up to 50 hours burn time; Silk Sleep Eye Mask – Midnight Blue by Drowsy £58; Silk Sleep Eye Mask – Damask Rose by Drowsy £58

Last weekend I wrote about an offer from Margaret Dabbs and I’m going to do another offer this weekend, which goes something like this.  I have no idea what will happen here, so I will just say that if you buy Margaret’s Professional Foot File, we will automatically include her Foot Hygiene Cream (100 grams) which has a value of £22.  Foot Hygiene Cream is perfect for sweat-prone feet and it helps combat odour, fungal skin conditions and sore, dry cracked skin.  The Professional Foot File has been designed using Compressed Crystal Technology and it effectively removes hard skin and calluses from the feet.  And that’s that.
Professional Foot File by Margaret Dabbs London £30 + Foot Hygiene Cream (100 grams) Free (all orders honoured across the weekend and beyond, if we can)

I’ve just done a paragraph count, and I know I’m over-writing, but never mind because I have two more things I need to say.  The first is that because we are at the beginning of another new month, we have a new Temple Spa offer.  It is all about their serums, four of them to be precise and those serums are Be Firm, Be Strong, Let’s Concentrate and Trufflelixir.  I have linked them below and for the entire month of August they are discounted as shown below. That was easy.
Be Firm by Temple Spa Was £42, Now £35.70; Be Strong by Temple Spa Was £42, Now £35.70; Let's Concentrate by Temple Spa Was £50, Now £42.50; Trufflelixir Was £80, Now £45

The final fling, and if we are doing a final fling, we may as well do it in style.  There is no doubt in my mind that the clinicals on BioPerine® are nothing short of extraordinary, which is why we have used it in HA and Curcumin C3 Complex.  However, there is another potent, patented product which, in a different way, also plays a role in the better absorption of nutrients, which is so incredibly important as it helps combat nutrient deficiency by enhancing the absorption of vitamins and minerals in our body.   That product is Fulvic Acid Elixir.

I absolutely know that many of you take Fulvic, and suddenly a thought.  A rocket fuel thought actually, because if we are taking Fulvic as well as HA and/or Curcumin C3 Complex, then the efficacy of each is further heightened, which is so exciting.  In fact, we could all climb aboard a rocket and shoot for the stars.  I was tempted to use a rocket as the image accompanying this newsletter, but thought better of it, so I’ll do this instead. I’m taking the Travel Size Fulvic Acid Elixir (240 ml), which has a value of £15, and dropping that to £12, dedicated to excellence, efficacy and ground-breaking supplementation.
Fulvic Acid – The Elixir Of Life; Fulvic Acid Elixir £12 for 240 ml (whilst stock lasts)

And into the Saturday only treat we go, so with every order placed for £35 and above, excluding p&p, we will automatically include Ameliorate’s Transforming Body Lotion (50 ml)*.  As so many of you are aware, Transforming Body Lotion is Ameliorate’s hero product, and it’s where it all started really.  I don’t think I will ever forget launching this brand onto the global market and let me say one more thing, at launch Transforming Body Launch was more expensive than it is now and if I remember correctly, it launched at £27.50.  Be that as it may, full product details listed below.

I had already written the last Weekend Read when news came through about the sad passing of Sinéad O’Connor. Many words have been written, so all I want to say here is that Nothing Compares To You is a song that I have loved forever, which is why I am now adding it to the VH Playlist. Written by Prince and performed by Sinéad O’Connor, perhaps they are singing this in the sky.
