Weekend Read 8 April 2023

Hello, and here we are, in the middle of another long weekend where we are going to do all the latest news and updates, together with two or three new product launches.  I am going to lead with one of those new products, most specifically because it has outstanding credentials and it offers a completely new approach to foot health and hygiene.  Being hailed as a revolution in podiatry, please allow me to introduce you to Clinisept+ Podiatry, which re-writes the rule books of podiatric care as, to the best of my knowledge, it is the only skin cleansing chemistry that combines highly effective antimicrobial cleaning with absolute skin compatibility.

Used and endorsed by leading UK podiatrists, Clinisept+ Podiatry takes a completely different approach to traditional skin cleansing chemistries, which often use harsh chemicals to clean the skin.  It contains a pure hypochlorous solution which replicates the chemistry of the human immune system.  This enables it to provide highly effective skin cleaning without causing any toxicity or leaving any residue or chemical burden.  The combination of hygiene and skin compatibility, including a skin neutral pH, reduces the appearance of redness and swelling and forms the optimum environment for healthy skin to flourish.

Clinisept+ Podiatry does not contain alcohol or chlorhexidine and it is suitable for use by those prone to Athlete’s foot, a common fungal condition, as well as eczema, psoriasis and dermatitis. It can be used by diabetics and is deodorising too.  Clinisept+ Podiatry is well proven and offers significant advantages in clinical environments, which we are now able to experience at home.  It will also help to bring relief to unhappy feet and itchy or sensitive toes.  So, in conclusion, please allow me to say that I believe that Clinisept+ Podiatry is a foot health hero, and it sits rather well alongside another hero, a Fulvic hero, Fulvic Nail Cream.
Clinisept+ Podiatry £9.95 for 100 ml; Clinisept+ Podiatry £12.50 for 250 ml; Fulvic Nail Cream £9 for 30 ml

Of course the Clinisept+ products are not new to us and Clinisept+ Mouthwash is our bestselling oral hygiene product; it has been for some time as we recommend this mouthwash over and above traditional mouthwashes.  This hypochlorous mouthwash is free from chlorhexidine, alcohol and peroxide, which are known to cause oral irritation.  Most importantly it is not subject to antimicrobial resistance and therefore effectively and efficiently kills and inhibits the growth of bacteria inside our mouths, which can lead to oral hygiene problems such as decay, infection and bad breath.

With that said, I do have to tell you that Clinisept+ Mouthwash has increased in price from £6.49 to £7.95, but I will hold it at £6.49 across this weekend.  Actually, make that this long weekend, so it will hold until midnight BST, Monday 10 April and somehow or other it went out of stock last weekend, for which I apologise.  Obviously it is now back in stock, but there was an unexpected surge in orders, so now I’m wondering whether there was a collective psychic phenomenon regarding the price increase.  Stranger things have happened and happen. Vivid imagination.  No boundaries required.
Clinisept+ Mouthwash £6.49 for 400 ml

Over the past few weeks I have been writing about some of our bestselling supplements, so now it’s the turn of Limitless Plus, a natural nootropic supplement formulated to help protect the brain tissues, improve memory and the ability to recall information, even when under stress, which we mostly are.  Nootropics have come to the fore over the past few years and by definition a true nootropic must be able to enhance memory together with the ability to assimilate and process information, protect the brain tissue from chemicals and toxins and to help brain function without displaying any side effects.

It needs to be said that, as with most supplementation, nootropics are not created equally and synthetic nootropics are synthesised in laboratories and lack long-term studies, making their safety questionable.  Natural nootropics consist of compounds and herbs which have been proven to be safe and effective and Limitless Plus has been formulated combining two of the safest herbal extracts, Numatoes and Neumentix.  Numatoes is an extract derived from the non-GMO tomato plant, which includes the extensively studied antioxidant called Lycopene and Neumentix is a unique extract derived from non-GMO Spearmint and contains over fifty different types of polyphenols.

I will now refer you to Shabir’s article on nootropics where he takes an in-depth look at the benefits of Numatoes and Neumentix, which are numerous.  And although nootropics are often referred to as smart drugs, Limitless Plus is a non-pharmaceutical innovative botanical supplement providing both short and long-term benefits for the brain with cumulative effects.  All that is left is for me to take the price of Limitless Plus down from £32 to £29 across the long weekend, mention that it also has mood-elevating properties and tell you that alongside our other bestselling supplements, it will carry the DoSe branding in the fullness of time.

Staying with extensively studied antioxidants, an antioxidant that certainly falls into that category is Astaxanthin.  It is often referred to as a super-antioxidant because as one of nature’s most powerful antioxidant nutrients it has been shown to be far more potent than Vitamins C or E, Beta-carotene and Pycnogenol, which is why we have been recommending Astaxanthin for the longest time.  There are those supplements which remain sacrosanct and Astaxanthin with Phospholipids is one such supplement, with the proviso that we have to remain open-minded about ongoing and pioneering research.

Astaxanthin is known to protect every part of the body, including organs, joints and skin.  It is able to cross the blood-brain barrier to protect the nervous system and the blood-retinal barrier offering protection to our eyes.  It is also important to note that Astaxanthin supplementation should be derived from algae and not fungus and the inclusion of Phospholipids in this formulation ensures that Astaxanthin is actually delivered to the cells of the body.  Phospholipids are molecules which are a major component of cell membranes, ensuring maximum absorption.  And with that explained, I am dropping the price of Astaxanthin with Phospholipids from £14 to £12.

We list thousands of products on our site and it is impossible for me to write about all of them, but there are many hidden gems amongst them and one of those is MSM + Silver Topical Solution which can help to eradicate mild eye infections, ear wax and ear infections.  I often write about eye products because it is important that we look after our eyes.  The eye is like a water balloon and the optical tissue normally allows fluids to flow through the membrane wall, which acts like a filter, supplying nutrition and cleaning out particles, yet when the membranes become tough, fluids are trapped and particles start to build up, which can lead to irritation and infections, such as conjunctivitis.

And as we look after our eyes, we must look after our ears too and this product is truly effective in helping to calm ear infections and to help remove ear wax. I suppose you could call this a double-whammy product, but that’s not surprising because Hydrosol Silver is a powerful antimicrobial and the formulation also includes Carnosine to protect against free-radical induced oxidation together with Colloidal Zinc, known for its wound healing properties.
MSM + Silver Topical Solution by Good Health Naturally £14.95 for 30 ml

Let’s stay with eye health by taking a look at a supplement which has been shown to help and protect eye health.  Formulated in accordance to the ARED’S trial (Age Related Eye Disorder Study), Nutrof Total contains the antioxidant vitamins, Lutein and Zeaxanthin, Omega 3 fish oils, Resveratrol, D3 and Zinc.  With a primary function of protecting our vision, Nutrof Total is also recommended, alongside HA, to help with mild cases of eye floaters, which are tiny spots floating around in our vision; these tend to be age related.  Supporting preventative eye health, I will now refer you to Shabir’s article where he also recommends eye exercises to help nourish the eye tissues.
VH Editorial: Eye Floaters And Flashes; Nutrof Total £14.99 for 30 Capsules; Hyaluronic Acid Capsules High Strength £35 for 30 Capsules

Just one or two more things here, and that is to say that if your eyes feel tired, do try Temple Spa’s eye massagers.  Eye Therapist will help support lymphatic drainage as they help ease tension around the eye area.  And then of course we have the Heated Eye Wand, the multi award-winning tool that has been clinically proven to improve dry eyes as it restores and rejuvenates the entire eye area in a matter of minutes.  It also helps produce better quality tears, helping the eyes to stay naturally hydrated.  There are three versions of the Heated Eye Wand, all listed below, which we recommend using with Soothing Coconut Eye Balm.  For the slip.
Eye Therapist by Temple Spa £10; Heated Eye Wand £65; Heated Eye Wand PRO £75; Heated Eye Wand PRO Nickel Free £75; Soothing Coconut Eye Balm £20 for 120 ml

Having just mentioned Temple Spa, please allow me to introduce you to a new product from them.  It is called Be Quiet and it is a soothing milky toner formulated with prebiotics, fermented oats, Niacinamide, Squalane and Alpine Rose.  Specifically created for stressed skin, Be Quiet should be used after cleansing and it can also be used as a calming treatment post-shaving or after any method of hair removal.  Another dual purpose product.  In a long line of them.
Be Quiet by Temple Spa £24 for 150 ml

As we move towards warmer moments, our focus switches to the products which help to address seasonal changes.  And one of the first products I always write about at this time of year is Mrs White’s Unstung Hero, essentially because it lives up to its name as one of the best mosquito and insect repellent sprays suitable for adults and children.  This is a DEET and chemical-free formulation, which combines a fresh Eau de Cologne and an ingredient that also helps repel ticks, black fly, wasps and bees.  And its claim to fame, it was used in a Vogue shoot several years ago and it’s still basking in that glory.  And why not, it’s fabulous.
Mrs White’s Unstung Hero Mosquito Repellent by Roullier White £20 for 250 ml; Mrs White’s Unstung Hero Mosquito Repellent by Roullier White £15 for 100 ml

With travel on the agenda, let’s take a look at another new product launch and whilst these are perfect to take away with you, they are perfect for use wherever you are.  The product is called ‘Swoosh’ and they are stain removal wipes which have been scientifically formulated to absorb deep into the inner core of fibres, drawing out stains from your clothes.  All you need do is to apply a Swoosh wipe as soon as possible to fresh stains from some of the most common culprits and watch the stain disappear.  It comes from the same stable as deCrease and I now have a Swoosh wipe residing in my bag for those moments when.  And I’ve had several of them.
Swoosh Instant Stain Removal Wipes (Fragrance Free) £8.50 for Ten Wipes (do not use on silk); deCrease Travel Iron Free £9.99 for 250 ml (do not use on silk)

Right, let’s get back to beauty products and beauty treat territory.  And we are going to do so with one of our bestselling products, 100% Pure Prickly Pear Seed Oil.  The benefits of Prickly Pear Seed Oil are numerous, and Shabir explores those benefits in his article linked below, but I think it is important to note that Prickly Pear Oil contains the highest amount of Vitamin E than any other beauty oil and it contains 150% more Vitamin E than Argan oil, which is quite something.  Anyway, in a limited edition offer, we are offering 45 ml of 100% Pure Prickly Pear Seed Oil for the price of 30 ml, which is £21.50.
VH Editorial: Beauty Benefits Of Prickly Pear Seed Oil; 100% Pure Prickly Pear Seed Oil £21.50 for 45 ml (whilst stock lasts)

This next treat gives me immense pleasure and I am so happy to share this with you.  Last Monday I was watching the Beauty Bible awards which, for the record, are truly authentic because they are not paid-for awards.  Anyway, Spacemasks won a joint Gold Award for being the best ‘Sleep Aid’ and I feel we need to celebrate that.  So, I’m dropping the price of each of the Spacemasks from £16.50 to £15 and I will also include a free Spacemask (original) with every order placed.  With a tra-la-la to Harriet Inglis who let me launch them.  And another tra-la-la to the independent testing of products and independent reviews.
Spacemasks £15 for Five Masks; Spacemasks – Orange And Grapefruit Scented £15 for Five Masks; Spacemasks – Chamomile Scented £15 for Five Masks (only one free Spacemask per customer in order to be equitable and offer ends at midnight BST, Monday 10 April)

Following through from that, Temple Spa’s Truffle Noir also won a joint Gold Award in the ‘Miracle Treatment – Night’ category.  How fortuitous I thought, because last weekend I wrote about the Temple Spa offer for the month of April, and that offer included Truffle Noir.  In fact, the offer extended to three of Temple Spa’s Truffle products, each of which dropped in price from £90 to £50 and they are listed below.
Skin Truffle £50 for 50 ml; Truffle Noir £50 for 50 ml; Truffle De-Light £50 for 50 ml

Staying with Beauty Bible, and outside of the awards, I often include Sarah Stacey’s Health Notes on these newsletters and I have done so for the longest time.  This week, Health Notes comes with a twist, because Jo Fairley has written her own version of Health Notes and alongside Sarah, she has written about her favourite VH products.  So, two sets of Health Notes this weekend, featuring their best-loved products, and all I want to do here is thank Sarah and Jo, I honestly didn’t know they were doing this.  But ever so thrilled to see Thyme Out is one of Jo’s favourite products.  How neat.
Sarah’s VH Favourites; Jo’s VH Favourites

So, Thyme Out and I will leave you to read why Jo loves it, but we love it because it is a simple water-based organic tincture which is powered by Thyme.  It treats inflammatory skin conditions really well, and it can also be used for cuts, grazes, prickly heat and sunburn.  I suppose you could really describe it as a medicine cabinet essential and with five products in the range, the original Thyme Out remains the brand’s bestselling product.  So, with all of that said, I am taking 20% off of all five products and this offer will also run across the long weekend, ending at midnight BST, Monday 10 April.
Thyme Out

Just a couple of updates here, product famine updates actually, and after writing about Japanese Medicinal Bathing Salts last weekend, the demand was so high, most of the bathing salts flipped into a pre-order status.  And although we have fulfilled many of those orders, Yunohana remains out of stock for the moment.  I am being told that this will be resolved around the third week of April, so I can only apologise for the delay.  And the famine stakes don’t end here.
Yunohana Natural Hot Spring Bath Powder by Tribe Skincare £18 for 120 grams; Japanese Bath Powder With Liquorice, Aomori Hiba Oil & Squalane by Tribe Skincare £18 for 200 grams; Japanese Bath Powder with Koyamaki, Sugi & Hanoki by Tribe Skincare £18 for 200 grams; Japanese Bath Powder with Hokkaido Acacia Honey, Lemon Extract & Pure Sunflower Oil by Tribe Skincare £18 for 200 grams

Organic Matcha Powder has also been out of stock, which really doesn’t surprise me after its star-studded appearance on Dragons’ Den.  We have literally just received a delivery, but I know it won't last so, if as you read this it has gone out of stock again, please refer to the notification facility on the product page and we will notify you immediately it returns.
Organic Matcha Powder by PerfectTed £14 for 30 grams

And into the Saturday only treat we go and with every order placed for £30 and above, excluding p&p, we will automatically send you Revive Morning Bath & Shower Oil (9 ml)* from Aromatherapy Associates.  I suppose this is another nod to Jo Fairley who has included an Aromatherapy Associates product on her most-loved list, so all I need to do here is to refer you to the product page of Revive Morning Bath & Shower Oil where you can read all about it.

As we come to the end of another Weekend Read, all that is left is for me to wish you a long, restful weekend.  And because it is a long weekend, I am going to link you to some Native American flute music, which is ten hours long.  I find this music tremendously therapeutic and you may wish to play it in the background to your day, or play it when you go to bed.  Either way, it’s peaceful and calming.  And music is such a great healer.

With love
