Weekend Read 3 April 2021

Gently does it on a Saturday morning as we laze our way through this Easter weekend.  And as we inch towards the continued warmth of embracing all that we are together, it is with hope and understanding that we are able to be the ‘more’ that we have been longing for.  It is of course the simplest things that mean so much and just perhaps, values and thoughts will replace the misplaced anger that has been so prevalent over the recent past.  Divisive by its very nature.  It truly doesn’t serve us.  At all.

But what does serve us is to stand as one in our determination to create a happier circumstance for each of us.  It is with this thought that I want to thank so many of you for spreading the smile on the face of the Japanese Cleansing Cloud last weekend.  Using it as a symbol of hope and happiness, I think it underlines the spirit of sharing however and wherever we can.  And as this is of paramount importance to me, let us continue this theme, not only today, but for all time.  In some way, shape or form.  With creative thought.  And love in our hearts.

If we are talking about being creative, then let us begin with a fabulous new product launch.  When you launch a brand, as we did, and that brand’s messaging is based on simplicity in products, which it was, then there is often a dilemma as to where you go next.  I am of course talking about Lixirskin.  Over the past two years, we have done two or three launches of products which serve to compliment the founding six products.  But where do you go from there.  Body care is the answer.  In fact it’s body, hair, bath and shower care.  In one.

I am so tremendously excited to introduce you to Universal Oil, not least because Colette (Dr Colette Haydon, Founder of Lixirskin), and I have been talking about it for over two years.  So at last I can tell you that its fragrance is utterly divine and this is the oil, the ultimate oil perhaps, that can be used all over the body.  Let’s take a look.  It can be used as a pre-shampoo treatment for the scalp, hair and dry ends; if you are using it in the bath, just one cap full will be enough to soak your way to gorgeously hydrated skin and if you shower, apply after washing to wet skin, massage and rinse.  Clever Colette.  This product is a tribute to her brilliance.  And your body.  With an Ooh La La.

Over the past year, I have written many times that I will continue to do the very best I can do in making some of our bestselling products more accessible, however and wherever I can.  Of course this will often mean that these offers can be repetitive, but I try to be cyclical in order to be beneficial.  I can’t always tell you that I get it right, most especially because we are totally reliant on the availability of raw ingredients and the chaos that is still governing manufacturing and production.  And this, unfortunately, is ongoing.

Notwithstanding that, I think we are safe enough, as things stand, to applaud our bestselling probiotic, which is of course Mega Probiotic ND (non-dairy).  No need for me to write anything else about it, unless you are new to VH, in which case I will refer you to Shabir’s article on the subject, one of many actually.  All of which are on the product page.  Twelve of them to be precise.  So, ending tomorrow, Sunday 4 April at midnight BST, I am taking the price of Mega P down from £21 to £18.  Another stashing event.  Perhaps.

From one stashing event to another as I throw the focus, once again, on the Garden of Wisdom products.  By virtue of the fact that Shabir formulated each of these products, I do try and keep them in the forefront of our minds, lest he thinks I’m ignoring him.  Actually, to give him credit (if I must), he does make it quite easy for me because several of these products have become legends in their own lifetime.  And that would include his Anti-Aging Multipeptide Serum, which if the truth be told, Shabir formulated for himself.  There are no secrets.

Containing several potent peptide technologies, this serum does what it is meant to do by helping to enhance collagen synthesis and the very tone of our skin.  Of course there are many other benefits, but before I take the price down, I just want to say that we really do not recommend using more than three serums at any given time.  I am massively against layering product after product onto skin.  I was, and still am, vehemently against ten-step-routines, or however many steps the marketeers feel like dreaming up for reasons other than those that are beneficial to your skin.  Do they think we are stupid.  Honestly.

So I say, find your best serums and this could be the one.  Personally I would combine it with Neurophroline, but that is your choice to make as I take the price down of Anti-Aging Multipeptide Serum from £20 to £17.  And now that I’ve mentioned Neurophroline, I suppose I had better replicate the discount on that too, as it now becomes £15 instead of £18.  Well, it is probably one of my most favourite serums of all time.  The logistics.  Whilst stock lasts, both offers are good until midnight BST, tomorrow, Sunday 4 April.  Non-chaotic skincare.  Thank you.
Anti-Aging Multipeptide Serum £17 for 30 ml; Neurophroline Serum £15 for 30 ml

I’m on a roll.  And those are probably the four words Shabir dreads the most.  But never mind that, I made a promise to you that every time one of you sends in a testimonial about the fabulousness of Fulvic Acid Nail Cream, we would celebrate together by taking the price down from £12 to £10.  And so that is exactly what I’m going to do as a customer told us that she uses it to get rid of callouses.  And it works of course.  Once again, the logistics are as above, this offer will end at midnight BST tomorrow.  We have enough.  I think.  Although the way I’m going, I could create a famine.  But at least we won’t have any callouses.  Or warts.  Or fungal infections.

More new products.  This time from Lanolips.  So please allow me to introduce you to two new and different tubes of their super-balm magic.  The first is flavoured with Pear and the second has a Minty flavour.  This is the story.  Taking the iconic Original 101 Ointment, both have been infused with Vitamin E and natural fruit extracts.  Renowned for rescuing extremely dry and chapped lips, I hope you enjoy the ongoing benefits that are stamped all over the Lanolips products.  And always have been.

It’s time to do another ingredient focus.  Last week I did Taurine and this week I’m going to do Black Garlic.  Garlic has been used as a medicinal herb for many centuries and its benefits have been observed and scientifically proven.  It has been indicated that garlic may be used for a wide variety of ailments, including as a diuretic, as a digestive aid, as an antibiotic, as an anti-parasitic and also for colds and infections.

For several different reasons, it has been established that Black Garlic is more effective than White Garlic.  Rich in amino acids, it has almost double the amount of antioxidants compared to White Garlic and it also contains an additional compound called S-Allycysteine (SAC) in high concentrations.  Shabir covers the science in his article linked below, so all that is left to say is that Garlic has also been shown to be of benefit in normalising blood sugar levels.  And it is also free from odour.  Thankfully.

And now a health concern.  A very common health concern actually.  And it’s Leaky Gut Syndrome, which is a poorly understood gastrointestinal concern where the lining of the gut becomes permeable resulting in numerous issues.  Symptoms can include bloating, gas, joint pain, tiredness, skin rashes, abdominal cramps and food sensitivities, although it needs to be said that this is not a conclusive list.

There are many suggestions as to the causes of developing a leaky gut.  With intestinal infections thought to be a leading cause, Shabir does the lowdown and recommends the use of GI Complex, a powder that contains some of the most effective natural remedies combined into one supplement.  To heal the gut.  And just because I am now into the habit of combining totally unrelated products, with every GI Complex, I will throw in one of those fabulous Healing Patches from Ross J. Barr, whilst stocks last.  Quintessential healing.  On two different levels.  Only one per customer.  Spreading the love.  Far.  And wide.

There is a great power in laughter.  I have always thought that and I fully subscribe to the quote from Lord Byron: ‘Always laugh when you can.  It is cheap medicine’.  In this week’s Health Notes, Sarah writes about finding the funny in fury, which is an interesting concept, most especially at this given time.  When you read her words, I think you will find that we can mostly relate to the fact that there are moments when our blood boils and we want to throw something.  Hard.  Very hard.  At something.  Or someone.  No names.  No pack drill.

With the sun making a welcome appearance this week, I thought we should do another one of those Temple Spa Treats.  With a limited amount of stock, I will just tell you that whilst stock lasts, I am taking the price of Temple Spa’s Life Defence SPF 25 Protecting Moisturiser down from £38 to £20.  I suppose you will need to be rather quick because Life Defence is suitable for all skin types and it provides an environmental skin filter for your face.  I also suppose it will rain or snow now that I’ve said that.  Never mind.

Another new product.  And it is in fact another new product from Derma E.  They just keep them coming, so an introduction here to their Sulfur Spot Treatment, which is a highly concentrated spot treatment that works effectively to help clear spots and blemishes.  It also helps to reduce the appearance of redness and its ingredients include Colloidal Sulphur, Salicylic Acid, Tea Tree Oil, Aloe Vera, Witch Hazel and Calamine.  It fights the fight against blackheads, breakouts and cystic acne.  Just to add that I do know how to spell, but it’s an American product, which is why it is ‘Sulfur’ in the product name and ‘Sulphur’ everywhere else.  Needed to say that.  So I have.
Sulfur Spot Treatment by Derma E £14 for 30 ml

To continue.  Since a vast majority of skin problems arise from within the body, we have always thought it pretty fundamental that an appropriate supplement is taken to help cleanse and purify the bloodstream of the compounds that lead to inflammation.  And we all know that inflammation is the root cause of most compromised skin conditions.

Shabir has been recommending Clear Skin Complex for many years and he doesn’t believe anything can really touch this supplement in terms of efficacy.  So much so he has written an entire article on it.  So he has written the article and I’m taking the price of Clear Skin Complex down from £24.70 to £21, ending tomorrow, Sunday 4 April at midnight GMT.  And once again, there are no overnight solutions, so please allow at least 28 days for this supplement to kick in, although you may well see an improvement in the condition of your skin before then.  Which would make us all rather happy.

When you look at any given brand, there is often a hero product that leads the way.  And then there are the brands where each of the products are pretty heroic.  That can be said about the Margaret Dabbs products.  So because I am sprinkling the treats like confetti today, I am going to continue by telling you that the three bestselling products from the range are PURE Cracked Heel Treatment Balm, Soothing Foot Powder and Hydrating Foot Soak.  Buy any of these products and you will receive another fabulous product from Margaret Dabbs, namely the Foot Cleansing Wipes which are worth £12.  Whilst stocks last and only one gift per customer.  For the soothing of feet.
PURE Cracked Heel Treatment by Margaret Dabbs London £18 for 30 ml; Soothing Foot Powder by Margaret Dabbs London £15 for 50 grams; Hydrating Foot Soak by Margaret Dabbs London £22 for 200 ml

Let’s do some updates.  I totally under-estimated the demand for Ultrasun’s new product last week.  This is the hand cream that is ideal for sensitive skin which is prone to pigmentation and offers free radical protection.  With apologies for the wait list, it is now back in stock and I’ve admonished myself.  And you know I said that I was hoping we could reduce the lead time on Daily Energy, well I think we have done it.  I told you that our manufacturers had sourced the missing ingredient and I can now tell you that Daily Energy is in transit and will be with us very soon, if it hasn’t already arrived.  I believe in miracles.  And this is one of them.  In the whole scheme of things.

One more thing to say before we head into the Saturday only treat.  And that is to say that in a final fling, I am taking the price of Liposomal Vitamin C down from £39.99 to £35, ending tomorrow, Sunday 4 April at midnight BST.  I’m doing it because Vitamin C can assist in a feeling of wellbeing.  So aside from its many other attributes, let’s try and up the ante on our wellbeing.  If we can.
Liposomal Vitamin C by YourZooki £35 for 30 x 15 ml Sachets

Rocking into the Saturday only treat, let’s stay on the YourZooki theme as I tell you that with every order of £30 and over (excluding p&p) we will include five sachets of YourZooki’s Collagen Zooki, which is a ground-breaking collagen drink.  It contributes to natural collagen formation for the normal function of skin, cartilage, bones, gums and teeth.  I rarely gift products that have only recently launched, but nothing in life is cast in stone, as we know only too well.  So what the heck.  Let’s just do it.  Because we can.

The Saturday song is Moon River.  Taken from the film Breakfast at Tiffany’s, I want to share this version of that iconic song with you.  Performed here by Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck, there is no deep reason for this song choice, other than it has always moved me and I hope it moves you too.  To a calm space.

With love
