Weekend Read 26 February 2022

Weekend Read 26 February 2022

As I welcome you to this Weekend Read, the world is witnessing some of the most appalling atrocities against humanity.  There are not enough words to describe the abject horror we are all feeling and our thoughts are with the Ukranian people, and all those who are subjected to this catastrophic act of war.

In all the years of writing newsletters, I don't think I have ever written about politics or world events, other than Covid, and I really don't intend to do so going forward, but there are always exceptions to the rule. I had written a completely different opening to this Weekend Read, but I deleted everything I had written at the very last minute before sending this out, because it just didn't feel appropriate.

With that said, I will now continue by saying thank you for your love, support and generosity after I had a rant last weekend.  It was a big rant, so let me say that we will continue to support the brands, niche or otherwise, who deserve the recognition that we choose to give them, in the hope that we can, in some small way, give them the understanding and awareness that their products so richly deserve, and with that said, I’m about to launch a product from one of those brands.

And this launch may come as somewhat of a surprise to you.  I say that because it falls into our haircare category and we do of course have our own brand of haircare products, the Fulvic Acid collection.  It’s not that we don’t list other brands in this category, because we absolutely do, but I watch over this category as if my life depends upon it.  And actually it probably does, but there are always exceptions to the rule, most especially when a new and pioneering product comes in front of me in the form of the first-ever pre-wash hair treatment mask bar.

So please allow me to introduce you to the Elasticity Bar by EarthKind which has been formulated by Tony Maleedy, Founder of EarthKind and a leading British Trichologist.  Designed to restructure, restrengthen and recondition hair, the Elasticity Bar helps improve the elasticity of all hair types.  In order to work most effectively, hair treatments need time, which is why the Elasticity Bar is a pre-wash treatment with a mission to penetrate through the cuticle of the hair, deep into the cortex, which is where it performs its magic.  When the hair is washed, only the surface residue is removed as the absorbed treatment remains in the hair fibres.

With a recommendation that this treatment bar only needs to be used once a week, or once a fortnight. dependent upon the condition of your hair, I think it is a rather wonderful addition to our haircare protocol, and I don’t say that lightly.  I could of course write reams about the importance of elasticity in hair, but because I have so much more to write about this week, I am going to refer you to the Elasticity Bar information sheet, linked below, which will explain the concept in detail.  I think that’s really important, but then I will always back up product launches with as much information as I can in order for you to make a considered choice.
The Elasticity Bar Information Sheet

To wrap this launch, I need to tell you that we will include a free EarthKind Storage Tin, worth £5.95, with every order for the Elasticity Bar.  I think it’s necessary for the bar to be stored correctly, rather than leaving it wilting on the side in our bathrooms.  I will follow through next week with EarthKind’s Shampoo Bars, but just to say that with every Shampoo Bar bought, we will also include a free Storage Tin.  So with The Times declaring EarthKind’s Shampoo Bars as best-in-class, it amuses me that the Elasticity Bar will be best-in-class as of this moment because there is no competition in the bar world.  So let’s raise the bar.  Together.
Elasticity Bar by EarthKind £12.50 (Includes Free Storage Tin worth £5.95); Shampoo Bars by EarthKind (Also includes Free Storage Tin worth £5.95)

Straight in with another new launch.  And it is, to the best of my knowledge, another one of those world-first launches that we are really happy to support.  Ongoing research and development is so key to all that we do, as it determines the choices we are able to make with regard to optimum health and wellbeing.  It has been several years since we first spoke about liposomal technology, but over the recent past the stakes have increased in the liposomal world, so much so that behind the scenes a bitter legal battle has broken out between brands, citing and questioning the use of liposomal technology in certain formulations.  Swinging low.  In our opinion.

So please allow me to introduce you to the first Liposomal D3+K2 spray of its kind.  We are of course all aware of the importance of both Vitamins D3 and K2, and since liposomes mimic natural cell membranes, the nutrients within these pioneering liposomal sprays demonstrate a superior bioavailability to the body than many other forms.  Most importantly liposomal technology allows these important nutrients to enter each and every cell within each gland, facilitating optimum and unrivalled efficacy.  To date.

The High Absorption Liposomal D3+K2 Oral Spray comes in two flavours, Strawberry & Rhubarb and Lime Crush.  Two sprays will deliver 2000 IU of plant-form D3 and 100 mcg of K2, which allows flexibility of use on dosage, but at the given dosage this will give you 90 servings, which will last for approximately three months.  And it goes without saying that an extensive testing protocol was undertaken to establish liposome presence and size.  The evidence was very clear.  And affirmative.
High Absorption Liposomal D3+K2 Oral Spray Strawberry & Rhubarb Flavour £16.95 for 30 ml; High Absorption Liposomal D3+K2 Oral Spray Lime Crush £16.95 for 30 ml

Advances in healthcare never fail to fascinate me, but running alongside all that is new are the products that help form the foundation of our wellbeing.  I think most of you can guess where I’m going with this and I am of course talking about Fulvic Acid Elixir, which I take every single day of my life.  I absolutely swear by this product for so many different reasons and because so many of you feel the same way, I am taking the price down from £30 to £25 across the weekend.  And for reference, I am linking Shabir’s article below, which serves as a powerful acknowledgement of its considerable attributes.  Fulvic.  The Elixir Of Life.
VH Editorial: Fulvic Acid – The Elixir Of LifeFulvic Acid Elixir £25 for 480 ml (Offer ends at midnight GMT, Sunday 27 February)

Staying with supplementation, WindAway Activated Charcoal has been formulated to help reduce excess flatulence after eating.  It has the ability to absorb trapped wind and it contains steam activated charcoal, which is derived from coconut shells.  As ever, there is a difference when choosing charcoal supplementation because activated charcoal is capable of absorbing three or four times more gas than regular charcoal and as such it also has the ability of neutralising body odours.

It also serves as a natural aid to good digestion and although this is not the most glamorous topic of conversation, we have to stay real and this is a big issue for an awful lot of people.  Further details and dosage recommendations are on the product page and I will just add that this is a fast-acting supplement, but please don’t exceed the dosage recommendations.
WindAway Activated Charcoal by Lifeplan £6.75 for 90 Capsules (It should be £8.75, but I've lowered the price to £6.75 across this weekend)

Let’s interject with a beauty treat.  It comes from Derma E.  It is another one of those limited edition offers, so once it’s gone, it’s gone and if it fails to go into your basket you will know the offer is over.  Hydration On The Go is a collection of three products which have been specifically formulated for dry, tired and dull skin.  Those three products are Hydrating Gentle Cleanser (44 ml), Ultra Hydrating Serum (15 ml) and Hydrating Day Cream (14 grams) all wrapped up in a cosmetic bag and accompanied by a Silicone Face Scrubber.  And the price drops from £18 to £8.  Nothing more to say.  Here.

But actually I do have more to say about skincare.  And we’re going straight down the line with this.  I wrote last week about my love of iS Clinical and in full transparency I wrote about the importance of understanding the difference between high-end and duped products.  I think it is also important to understand that there is nothing wrong in duping a high-end product, but it is equally important to manage expectations on efficacy.  And standing right next to iS Clinical in the efficacy stakes is the brand Non Gender Specific (NGS).

I have previously declared Everything Cleanser to be one of my favourite cleansers of all time and I couldn’t wait to follow through with the launch of Everything Cream, which I had been using for about a year before launch.  We are of course all different, but in recognition of the dedicated research, development and efficacy of NGS, I am taking the price of Everything Cleanser down from £25 to £20 and I’m also dropping the price of Everything Cream from £42 to £37.  Brand awareness is important, but over and above that, I will always support those brands who are demonstrably humbled by the recognition they receive from each of you.  Because it matters.  Rather a lot.
Everything Cleanser £20 for 237 ml; Everything Cream £37 for 50 grams (Offers end at midnight GMT, Sunday 27 February)

And in the same breath, I would also like to acknowledge Ross J. Barr.  One of these days I will write about the evolvement of his product range and how it all began, but for now I would just like to reference the importance of his pregnancy formulations.  There are four products in the range, Female Fertility Formula, Male Fertility Formula, Female Pregnancy Formula and DHA/EPA Formula.  As a leading and trusted fertility expert, Ross understands that nutrition is often the most influential non-genetic factor in foetal development.  His wisdom is profound.

And with that said, I feel I want to share further by doing a brand promotion across all of his products, not only the pregnancy formulations.  So that’s what I will do as I offer you a 10% discount across all Ross J. Barr products, and before you ask, yes it will include the Healing, Calm and Sleep Patches and it will also include Stomach Support, which powers the engine room of the body, the stomach.  Obviously I can’t write about each product, but I will refer you to the individual product pages where each supplement is explained in great detail.  It’s all in the detail.  And the positive difference that follows the nurturing when we are often vulnerable and fragile.

We need to talk about oral health.  It is some time since I have written about this important subject, but because space is always my big issue, I think it best if I just say that the two products we recommend to help maintain oral hygiene are Florassist Oral Hygiene and Clinisept+ Mouthwash.  Florassist Oral Hygiene contains specific probiotic strains which have been shown to compete against the pathogenic bacteria which reside in pockets of gum tissue.  It is for this reason that we believe Florassist Oral Hygiene should be considered to help prevent and treat gum disease, together with its ability to help maintain overall oral health.

In the oral hygiene stakes, Clinisept+ Mouthwash is probably our bestselling product, and deservedly so.  When I launched this product, I wrote at the time that I couldn’t think of one product that came close to the efficacy of Clinisept+ Mouthwash.  And I still hold that view because unlike traditional mouthwashes, which incidentally my dentist banned me from using, Clinisept+ does not contain Chlorhexidine, alcohol or peroxide, all of which are known to cause oral irritation.  More on each of the product pages as ever, but such is their importance I am dropping the price of Florassist Oral Hygiene from £16 to £13 and Clinisept+ Mouthwash from £6.49 to £5.  Smile.
Florassist Oral Hygiene £13 for 30 Lozenges; Clinisept+ Mouthwash £5 for 400 ml

Well, we might as well do another beauty treat and it’s One Balm from Green People.  It’s another one of those limited edition offers, so once again once it’s gone, it’s gone.  I really have no idea when that will be but I will just tell you that One Balm is packed full of soothing and regenerating ingredients and it helps heal and repair troubled skin, most specifically on elbows, knees and heels.  So in the wrap, I am dropping the price of One Balm from £20 to £10, whilst stock lasts.  And into the Saturday only treat we go.
One Balm by Green People £10 for 30 ml

I know that last week I gifted an Aromatherapy Associates product, and I’m going to do the same this week because I think that their Support Breath Bath & Shower Oil will hit the spot for so many.  It is blended with high concentrations of Pine, Tea Tree and Eucalyptus, which release soothing vapours to help clear seasonal snuffles and it will also help support low energy levels.  So with every order placed for £30 and above, excluding p&p, we will automatically drop Support Breath Bath & Shower Oil (9 ml)* into your order.   A word of caution, please do not use this product if you are pregnant or breast-feeding.

So we come to the end of another Weekend Read, and with that said, all that remains is for me to thank you once again for the loyalty and support you constantly give. And once more, let us come together with our thoughts and prayers for all those who are fighting for their very existence.

With love

Gill x
