Weekend Read 24 September 2022

Weekend Read 24 September 2022

As I welcome you to another Weekend Read, I would like to extend my love and heartfelt thanks to Poppy Delbridge for leading hundreds of us through another extraordinary Rapid Tapping session last Sunday evening.  It was quite something to experience a collective energetic shift in just over thirty minutes, and your response was amazing and gracious, for which Poppy and I thank you.

There is such a warmth in sharing.  Aligned with a strong sense of belonging and community, sharing enables us to be as one and to be at one with ourselves.  As such, if you were unable to join us last Sunday, I am linking a recording of ‘Tapping Into Joy’ below.  In your own time and in your own space, this recording offers a gentle guidance and introduction to this powerful evidence-based therapy.  And for those who tapped with us, this recording will help reinforce the energetic upliftment we shared, enabling you to tap yet again, if you so wish.

Following through from last week, I would just like to reiterate that our emotional health and wellbeing is of paramount importance, which is why we must continue to support each other in any given circumstance, no matter what.  This is a crucial element of the work that we do, but of course, running alongside that, we continue to have a responsibility in recommending cutting-edge products to help support our physical health.  And, as I also wrote last week, that includes helping to protect our immune system from this moment on.

There are many factors which play a role in compromising our immunity, including stress, lack of sleep, nutritional deficiencies and of course being in close contact with those who have contagious viral infections.  I cannot, and will not, claim that any supplement will prevent you from catching seasonal infections, but we can lessen our susceptibility to such by taking a supplement to help prime our immune system, offering the protection we believe is needed throughout the Autumn and Winter months.

Formulated by Shabir, Daily Immunity includes ingredients such as Vitamin C, Zinc, Vitamin D3, and Astragalus to name just a few, but rather than just list the ingredients, I think it is really important to understand how our immune system functions together with how we can improve the function of our immune system.  As such Shabir has written six articles on this subject, which you can find on the Daily Immunity product page, and I am linking one of those articles below for ease.  And with Daily Immunity being our bestselling supplement in this genre, I am dropping the price from £27 to £22 across the weekend.  Kick-starting our immunity, therapeutically.
VH Editorial: A Daily Supplement That Supercharges Your Immunity; Daily Immunity £22 for 60 Capsules (offer ends at midnight BST, Sunday 25 September)

As I have written above, we are still susceptible to infection so this next product aligns with Daily Immunity, as it helps reduce the severity of symptoms including fever, chills, headaches, diarrhoea and fatigue.  I am of course talking about Triple Flu Defense+ 2022-2023, a homeopathic remedy targeted for optimal effectiveness against seasonal viruses, respiratory issues and stomach flu.  Each year there are many seasonal viruses that continually mutate to form new strains which challenge our immune system, so let’s take a further look at this.

It is a given that flu strains present distinct symptoms, which is why influenza cases look different each year.  Triple Flu Defense is, I believe, the only targeted, solution-based homeopathic medicine adjusted each season to best match strains and symptoms using CDC, WHO and patient data.  Simplistic in nature, at the first sign of flu take 20 drops three times a day for symptom relief and then once a week for maintenance.  We have been recommending this tincture for more years than I care to remember and we do so because its unique formulation has helped, and will continue to help, so many of us to overcome seasonal illness.  A medicine chest essential.  I think so.
Triple Flu Defense+ 2022-2023 by Dr Nenninger £28 for 30 ml

Before I move on, I would just like to say that alongside Daily Immunity, Triple Flu Defense+, is one of our most-wanted products at this time of year.  I honestly believe we have ordered correctly, but if I am wrong and it goes into a pre-order status, please don’t worry we will order more, but there may be a slight delay as it comes from America.  So on that understanding, I am now heading into a celebration with you, a skincare celebration.

It is a year since we launched Non Gender Specific (NGS) into the UK for and on behalf of its founder, Andrew Glass.  I think most of you know that I rarely launch skincare brands, I really don’t feel the need.  I am not in competition with the rest of the beauty world, and I will not undermine the brands we choose to support by incessantly writing about skincare products that claim to supersede all that has gone before.  Further down this newsletter, I am going to have a complete and utter rant about skincare brands, but stay with me for the moment as I walk you towards a rather fabulous treat.  Well, I think it’s fabulous.

Long cut short, I tested the NGS products, on and off, for a year before I wrote about them.  I had fallen in love with Everything Cleanser, Everything Serum and Everything Cream, and I absolutely promise you that I don’t fall in love with anything or anybody easily.  But I fell in love with NGS, which reached further depths of adoration when I was given the privilege of launching Flooid, the deliciously seductive fragrance, which has now become my personal signature fragrance.

And so the products. There are currently six products in the range, soon to be seven, but for the purposes of this celebration, with any NGS product purchased, we will automatically include Everything Cleanser, which is worth £25.  I have often written about Everything Cleanser, it forms part of my cleansing wardrobe and I’m so very happy it sits alongside other epic cleansers.  I clearly have a thing about cleansers, so all I need to say is that Everything Cleanser will last you absolutely ages and do try leaving it on your skin for a few minutes before rinsing, as it becomes a skin treatment in and of itself.  And, for equality, there is only one gift per customer.
Non Gender Specific (offer ends at midnight BST, Friday 30 September)

From one treat to another, and I would now like to talk about Pukka Herbs.  We have supported Pukka Herbs since its inception and over the years I have often written about their products, and although they are probably best-known today for their extensive range of teas, all of their products are formulated to nurture and support our wellbeing.

I obviously can’t write about each of their products, but I vividly remember writing about two of their products, on separate occasions, where the demand was so great, they both fell into famine territory.  It took several weeks to clear the wait lists and I went into meltdown on both occasions, because wait lists do not bode well with me, most especially when they are out of my control.  And these were.  In chronological order, and for the record, those wait list products were Organic Castor Oil and Elderberry Syrup.

Castor Oil has traditionally been used as a massage oil to assist in the detoxification of the skin.  It is rich in Vitamin E and contains essential unsaturated fatty acids, such as Omega 6, which stimulates blood circulation on the surface of our skin, but it also helps to promote hair growth.  I had thrown the focus on the latter with a suggestion that Castor Oil could be used to help enhance the growth of eyelashes and eyebrows.  And our site nearly fell over.

And then along came the pandemic.  It had become increasingly obvious that one of the symptoms of Covid-19 was that it was often accompanied with a cough, so being pragmatic, which was all we could do, I wrote about the soothing qualities of Elderberry Syrup, which contains Manuka Honey.  I still stand by those words and as I do so, I will tell you that we are discounting each of the Pukka products by 25% across the weekend.  And if you want to know what Pukka’s bestselling tea is, well it’s Turmeric Gold.  For ease, I will link you to each of the three products mentioned and I will then leave you to explore and discover all that there is in the world of Pukka Herbs.

Let’s talk about Diverticular Disease.  There are actually three medical terms for this disease, which are classified as Diverticulosis, Diverticular Disease and Diverticulitis, yet all the symptoms are very similar to IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome).  Shabir will explain the differences in his article, linked below, but it is thought that Diverticular Disease affects nearly 50% of over 60 year olds.  One of the most common symptoms is chronic constipation, but intermittent and unpredictable griping lower abdominal pain, often accompanied by a fever, can also be indicative.

As you will also read in Shabir’s article, a diet low in fibre is thought to be one of the main causes for Diverticular Disease, so it would be prudent to increase dietary fibre, which is why Shabir always recommends Complete Fibre Cleanse in this circumstance.  It contains a blend of soluble and insoluble fibres which are important for gastrointestinal movement, which helps prevent constipation.  Alongside Complete Fibre Cleanse, we also recommend Symprove, a liquid probiotic which helps to reduce intestinal inflammation, balances gut bacteria and helps to improve intestinal motility.  Price drops on these products are listed below.
VH Editorial: What Is Diverticular Disease; Complete Fibre Cleanse £15 for 168 grams (drops from £22); Symprove Original £70 for 4 x 500 ml bottles (drops from £75); Symprove Mango & Passionfruit £70 for 4 x 500 ml bottles (drops from £75)

Onwards, and I’m going to have a bit of a Temple Spa moment.  In fact it is a Temple Spa Advent Calendar moment, and although I can’t quite believe I am writing about this in September, I do so because it is incredibly beautiful and it took my breath away when I first saw it.  It contains 24 of Temple Spa’s most loved products, all of which are listed on the product page.  I think the best I can do here is to leave you to explore the products included, but I will just say that it has a product value of £300.  And it’s almost October.
Temple Spa Advent Calendar £150

Into our bathrooms we go, with five products from Weleda.  Four of those products are shower gels, Energy Aroma Shower Gel, Relax Aroma Shower Gel, Harmony Aroma Shower Gel and Love Aroma Shower Gel.  Each of these are bestselling products in the Weleda range, so I thought I would repeat what I did several months ago and that was to drop the price of each of these shower gels from £8.25 to £7, across the weekend.  The fifth product is another bestselling product, inspired by the tranquility of a Siberian Pine forest, Weleda’s Pine Reviving Bath Milk is a legend in its own lifetime, and I’m dropping the price from £15.75 to £12.50, whilst stock lasts.
Energy Aroma Shower Gel £7 for 200 ml; Relax Aroma Shower Gel £7 for 200 ml; Harmony Aroma Shower Gel £7 for 200 ml; Love Aroma Shower Gel £7 for 200 ml; Pine Reviving Bath Milk £12.50 for 200 ml; All by Weleda (offers end at midnight BST Sunday 25 September)

One more thing to do before we head into the Saturday only treat, and it’s a gift from Lanolips.  I’m keeping it really simple and it goes like this; if you buy any Lanolips product, we will automatically include a free tube of their Coconutter Hand Cream Intense (50 ml) with every order, which is worth £8.99.  This is a limited edition offer and I’m not sure how long it will last, but if the product fails to go into your basket, then you will know that the offer is over.  And because this is a limited edition offer, there is only one gift per customer.  Go Lanolips.

And here it is, the Saturday only treat.  So with every order placed for £30 and above, excluding p&p, we will automatically include Temple Spa’s Easy On The Eye (30 ml), which is a gentle eye make-up remover and soothing eye solution.  As such it will help refresh and calm the eyes, helping to reduce inflammation and sensitivity.  It is fragrance-free (thank goodness) and full product details are linked below.

The end bit and, as I wrote above, I am in rant mode with the beauty industry.  I’m going to tell it as it is, there is no need for any embellishment because facts are facts.  So in the first instance I am replicating the words Jane Cunningham posted on her Instagram page (@britbeautyblog), and I will follow through with my own words: ‘Today I got offered £2k to tell older women their necks look awful and they should buy a £65 cream.  I said no.  I will always say no to bringing other women down’.

That was the top line.  Beneath those words a request was made to Jane to submit a picture of her neck in the most unflattering light, and then to submit another picture of her neck in the most flattering light.  The first thing I want to say is that there is nothing wrong in using a neck cream, I have written about several neck creams over the years, and as ever it is always a choice.  But there is something inherently wrong with the ‘sensational’ marketing of such products and I think you are all aware of my views about paid-for reviews and paid-for awards, let alone those before and after images which the beauty industry love so much.  Put succinctly it is fraud, in my humble opinion.

But that ‘fraud’ is endemic of the beauty industry, and just so you know £2k is a mere drop in the ocean compared to the monies ‘distributed’ by many to many.  I have just cited one incident here, but on an ongoing basis I receive emails stating that if I pay a certain amount of money, often way above £2k, a ‘name’ will endorse our products.  And the shame of all this is that several of those ‘names’ are very well known.  And then there are those in the industry whose sole purpose is destruction.  The destruction of all those who dare to be different, and who dare to tell the truth.  Without conforming to the agenda.

Leaving it there, let’s sing.
