Weekend Read 16 January 2021
As I welcome you to the Weekend Read, I think the best thing I can say here is that with each passing day we are a step closer to lighter days and, I hope, lighter moments. The months of January and February are notoriously bleak under normal circumstances, except of course nothing is normal this year. We have come this far together and in full acknowledgement of dreams that have been shattered and hearts that are breaking, we have to trust and we have to believe in a better tomorrow, however difficult that may seem.
Of course our health and wellbeing remains of paramount importance, but it’s more than that. Much more. In this broken world, we somehow need to heal ourselves and in order to mend we have to trust that out of all of this, we can stand in our own truth and strengthen the very core of our being. It is no easy thing, but together we will continue to share, as best we can, on many different levels.
And so I will begin with a treat. As ever, I try each week to lead with a product that really helps make a difference to each of us. Inevitably these are often our bestselling products and this week is no exception. It’s Hyaluronic Acid. In two different formats. The supplement is obviously Hyaluronic Acid High Strength Capsules and the topical is Hyaluronic Acid Serum, one of our bestselling serums.
I really don’t need to tell any of you that I have been taking HA for about twenty years. I literally swear by it. It has kept my face plumped up and stopped my joints from creaking and that’s no small thing. I absolutely refuse to have needles, but that’s a personal choice as I truly believe that there is an innate beauty in ageing with grace and dignity. Anyway, enough of that as I tell you that I am going to put a link below to Shabir’s archived article, Beauty Supplements To Boost Your Skin, which I think you will find interesting.
So the treat. With every Hyaluronic Acid High Strength Capsules bought today, Saturday 16 January, we will automatically include the Hyaluronic Acid Serum (30 ml), which is worth £10 and is suitable for all skin types. There is only one gift per customer and this offer will end at midnight GMT tonight, or whilst stock lasts. But that’s not all. If you read Shabir’s article he also talks about Skin Restoring Ceramides and Astaxanthin with Phospholipids. So the treat gets further extended with the price of Skin Restoring Ceramides down from £25 to £22 and Astaxanthin With Phospholipids down from £14 to £11, also ending at midnight GMT tonight. Picture Shabir’s face right now.
VH Editorial: Beauty Supplements To Boost Your Skin; Hyaluronic Acid Capsules High Strength £35 for 30 Capsules; Skin Restoring Ceramides by Life Extension £22 for 30 Liquid Capsules; Astaxanthin With Phospholipids by Life Extension £11 for 30 Softgels
Given the way life is at the moment, I am now going to throw the focus on some products which I hope will help many of you, albeit in different ways. I apologise if some of this is repetitive, but circumstances change and the things that may not have been individually important at the time of writing about, may well have changed. And I want to start with the products that may serve to help if you are recovering from Covid-19. And so many of you are. It is Shabir’s recovery regimen which consists of three products, but of course they can be taken individually as stand-alone products. And probably the most important of the three is Quercetin.
Quercetin improves zinc uptake into the cells, which is important since zinc is the second messenger of the immune cells, helping to decrease the durations of infections. Quercetin also displays powerful anti-inflammatory properties which helps to enhance recovery since inflammation in the body hinders repair processes. The second product is Good Green Stuff, which Shabir loves. This is the supplement that will help improve immunity and memory, reduce stress and help boost your metabolism, which is really important. The third product is Liposomal Vitamin C. And it really does have to be a liposomal version of Vitamin C for absorption and efficacy.
Quercetin by Lamberts £21.50 for 60 Tablets; Good Green Vitality by Nuzest £59.99 for 300 grams; Liposomal Vitamin C by YourZooki £39.99 for 30 x 15 ml Sachets
My turn. A few products, in no particular order, which I think will help to make a positive difference in numerous ways. So let me begin this section by telling you that when my energy levels are on the floor I always take Sibergin. It’s not an ongoing thing, but it’s there when and if I need it. And quite honestly with so many of us feeling pretty fed up and lethargic at times, a good dose of Sibergin will help kick-start us. This is what we call rocket fuel.

I have several bathroom friends. These are the products, aside from my skincare products, that are permanent fixtures and I wouldn’t want to live without them. So let me tell you that I love dry-brushing for many different reasons, but primarily I started to dry-brush several years ago because my circulation wasn’t great. For anybody who gets ‘blue’ hands and feet, dry-brushing will help boost your circulation, which can only be a good thing. That aside, I tend to be a bit of a maniac when I dry-brush because not a lot gives me greater pleasure in seeing those dead skin cells fall onto the floor. The shower floor to be neat.
Dry-brushing is also great to help alleviate dry, itchy skin and central heating is a known enemy of dry skin. I also think that dry-brushing helps lift our spirit, and heaven knows it needs lifting at the moment. I have tried many different brushes, but the one I love the most is Temple Spa’s ‘Giving It The Brush Off’. It performs like a dream and after dry-brushing, I tend to put lashings of Fulvic Body Lotion onto my skin. I invite you to join me and just to make you smile, I am taking £5 off Fulvic Body Lotion, so it becomes £15 over the entire weekend, whilst stock lasts and ending tomorrow, Sunday 17 January, at midnight GMT. Let’s wave to Shabir. Together.
Giving It The Brush Off by Temple Spa £16; Fulvic Body Lotion £15 for 200 ml (the discounted price will appear on the checkout page)
At the very beginning of the pandemic, I wrote about the Saltpipe inhaler and because I know it has helped so many of you, I am mentioning it again. The Saltpipe was created for those suffering from breathing difficulties and respiratory disorders, such as asthma and hay fever. A few minutes of regular daily use will help you breathe more easily and it will also help cleanse the respiratory system. It is important to note that at first use you may experience some coughing or sneezing as your system clears. This is perfectly normal, so there is no need to panic.
Its effectiveness has been proven in clinical trials and it is a registered CE medical device, which of course is important. This does not apply to all Salt Pipes, which I do need to point out here. The Cisca Saltpipe is ceramic and unlike most saltpipes, it does not require refills. Its efficacy will last for approximately five years with daily use and as a matter of course, I think it is rather a good thing to help keep our respiratory systems as clear as we can. Shabir would agree. I think.
The Cisca Saltpipe £29.95
And because I’ve just mentioned coughing, let me tell you that the ‘Covid-Cough’ can linger on and on. We are currently recommending Pukka Herb’s Elderberry Syrup to help alleviate that cough. I am not saying that it will get rid of it completely, but every little bit helps and because this also has manuka honey in it, you will find it quite soothing. That’s all.
Elderberry Syrup Organic by Pukka Herbs £14.99 for 100 ml
Time for another treat. Why not. And this is something I have done before. We have received rather a lot of emails asking for this, so here it is. It’s Ultimate Collagen+ by Ingenious Beauty. Each pack, giving one month’s supply, is £54.99 for 90 Capsules, so we are taking three months’ supply and putting them together, the cost of which would be £164.97, if I’ve done my maths correctly. I think I have, so let me now tell you that for today only, Saturday 16 January, the cost of three months’ supply will now be £110, whilst stocks last. We have a limited volume and knowing that many of you are huge fans of this supplement, keyboard bashing time has arrived. Go.
Ultimate Collagen+ by Ingenious Beauty £110 for Three Months’ Supply
In this week’s Health Notes, Sarah reports on Minds Anonymous, a new online initiative that offers people struggling with mental health problems a place to share their feelings and read about others’ experiences. I think that resources such as this are there to help in so many different ways. It serves to know that you are not alone and I also think it is tremendously cathartic to write about trauma, if you can and I understand if you can’t. It took me three years to write about my own personal experiences of bullying and I’m far from finished on that subject, but this is not about me, it is about you and I hope that those who need it find some solace in Sarah’s words.
I also want to give you some feedback after Sarah wrote about the emotional release facilitated by tapping therapy. I know that so many of you have taken up the offer of the free tapping sessions that are on offer until the end of this month. That would include a few of my close friends who have praised the simplicity and brilliance of this technique. If you missed the article, I am linking it again below because I feel it is so important, with our ongoing thanks to Poppy Delbridge for being a total star.

A new product. And it’s from Derma E. I think most of you know that we have been huge fans of Derma E since the beginning of VH time. Their products are solid, they don’t scream and shout, they are not hyped-up, but in their genre the formulations are often ground-breaking. But quietly so. So as we welcome Ferulic Acid Resurfacing Pads, I need to say that Ferulic Acid is a powerful antioxidant which helps improve the multiple signs of ageing, such as fine lines and wrinkles. Ferulic serves to help prevent free radical damage and will also help address uneven skin tones.
We are of course no strangers to Ferulic Acid, because it is of course included in our bestselling, Vitamin C Serum 23% + Ferulic Acid, which went temporarily out of stock recently. I nearly had heart failure, but we have to bear with as this is happening all over the place at the moment. Anyway, back to it and Ferulic Acid Resurfacing Pads are quick and easy to use. There are 50 pre-soaked pads in each pot. I wouldn’t really recommend using them every day, two or three times a week is sufficient.
Ferulic Acid Resurfacing Pads by Derma E £20 for 50 Pre-Soaked Pads; Vitamin C Serum 23% + Ferulic Acid £10 for 30 ml
With the current pandemic dominating global headlines each and every day, I think it is important that we don’t lose sight of many other serious health concerns, one of which is cardiovascular disease. I am not sure what the current stats are, but at the time of writing his article, Shabir wrote that cardiovascular disease was the number one cause of death in the Western Hemisphere, with heart disease and strokes also being the primary cause of death and disability among people with Type 2 Diabetes. So as a reminder, I am linking Shabir’s article below where he looks at helping to lower cholesterol levels with two of his recommended products.

Having more or less declared Atlantic Seaweed Bath as the hero bath for insomniacs, I have to tell you that we now have yet another supply and demand problem. Aside from our deliveries being erratic, another wait list has now occurred because of the high demand and understandably so. I am hesitant to write this, but I will also tell you that such are the therapeutic qualities of the Atlantic Seaweed Bath, it is also brilliant for helping to ease the aches and pains so many are experiencing right now. The very latest news I have is that more seaweed is being harvested and we are hoping for supplies to resume towards the end of January, but nothing can be cast in stone. My apologies for the wait.
Atlantic Seaweed Bath £12
You know how earlier I wrote that I was against needles, well I will continue to amuse myself by telling you that I may need to take Shabir to have a few injections lest his face falls to the floor when he reads this. With naked nails back on the agenda again, I am doing another treat. And of course it’s going to be Fulvic Acid Nail Cream. Our hero-product that strengthens and resurrects trashed nails. Down to £10 from £12, I would like to live a little longer, so this offer ends tonight, Saturday 16 January, at midnight GMT, or whilst stock lasts.
Fulvic Acid Nail Cream £10
So with two Fulvic treats on one newsletter, I know I am taking it to the edge, but never mind that because it’s time for the Saturday only treat. Keeping it Fulvic related, with every order placed today, Saturday 16 January, for £25 and over (excluding p&p) we will automatically include the 60 ml size of Fulvic Acid Conditioner. My best tip would be to use this all at once as a hair mask. I do this often because it makes me happy. This gift will only be available whilst stock lasts. I know I always write that, but I have to. Just in case.
And as I end this Weekend Read, my continued thanks for all your emails, which of course strengthen my resolve to make a stand for all the things that matter most to us. I write with purpose and reason. This week, all I want to say here is that music is a great healer and just perhaps as the music plays, there can be moments of stillness for each of us. I have always thought that there is a great authenticity in being still. A moment in time where we just let the music move us and allows our inner wisdom to take us to wherever we need to go. And for this purpose, I give you Vivaldi’s Four Seasons. With the promise of Spring and lighter days coming soon. Play it loud. Allowing envelopment.
Four Seasons: Vivaldi
No more words, just sending you love.
