Weekend Read 10 February 2024

Last weekend I wrote about dancing on our shared platform and I am going to begin this Weekend Read by talking about the music we share each week on our platform.  Music is a great healer and it plays such an important role in so many of our lives, so much so that many of the emails I receive are about the music we share, together with the stories and the memories which are so often triggered by that sharing.

In so many ways, music is an invitation to explore purpose, offering insights and affirmations determining purpose.  We each have a purpose and no matter what that purpose is, we each have a role to play in each other’s lives and so it is with purpose that I want to share a song with you at the beginning of this newsletter.  That song is The Impossible Dream, the words of which speak volumes to me and although I will link it at the end of this newsletter, there are a few things I would like to say now.

I have always been very clear about our purpose and I have always taken a pragmatic approach not only in the products we endorse and recommend, but in the understanding of lifestyle choices as well.  I suppose we could have taken VH in any number of directions, but my conscience dictated the path chosen because we have a responsibility to each of you, which is why we do what we do and I write the words that I write.  I will not stack products high and sell them cheap and conversely, I remain totally unconvinced about expensive designer-led supplementation.

Interestingly, a couple of weeks ago, I wrote that we were not mass market, yet perhaps I should correct myself slightly.  In response to your emails on this subject, one customer said that she was grateful we weren’t mass market, and my response was that in a way I wish we were mass.  And just perhaps it is The Impossible Dream, as we must always believe that we can win and although our products are not mass market products, there is something inside of me that holds onto the hope that one day they could be recognised as such.  At which point I will probably fall over.  Let’s do some of those products.

Continuing the theme of core supplementation, in so many ways Turmeric is core as it is a compound which has been studied in finite detail across the years.  Revered in Chinese medicine for its ability to help relieve arthritis, and in Ayurvedic medicine to help curb inflammation and infections, Turmeric has been used extensively for its medicinal properties and following through on ancient wisdom, scientists continue to discover plant compounds, such as Turmeric, that demonstrate anti-inflammatory properties, intervene in cell mutation and display powerful antimicrobial, antiviral and antioxidant properties.

The health benefits of Turmeric are primarily due to its Curcumin content, a group of polyphenol plant pigments which give Turmeric its distinctive yellow colour and most studies are based upon the efficacy of Curcumin, including numerous studies published in peer reviewed medical journals detailing Curcumin’s cell protective ability.  This is interesting because Curcumin has the most evidence-based literature acknowledging its cell protective properties, more than any other nutrient, which concludes that Curcumin appears to be universally beneficial for cell protection.

In an Italian study, over a three month period, researchers found a 58% decrease in overall reported pain and stiffness, which included an overall improvement in joint flexibility for those taking Curcumin.  Additionally, further scientific research has shown that Curcumin inhibits pathogenic bacteria, viruses and fungi, including many candida species.  With all of that said, you will know where I am going next because of course not all Turmeric supplementation is created equally, far from it, primarily because the efficacy of Turmeric can only ever be based upon the correct therapeutic dose and the integration of clinically studied compounds.

This becomes ever more important because Turmeric is poorly absorbed by the body and is quickly degraded by our stomach acids, which means that very little, if any, gets into our bloodstream and it was because this, and other issues, that Shabir formulated Turmeric Curcumin C3 Complex.  Containing a patented extract of three of the most researched curcuminoids, Curcumin C3 Complex is absorbed more efficiently than most Curcumin supplementation as it crucially provides Curcumin and other curcuminoids in a form that protects them from the digestive system, allowing them to perform at an optimal level.

Such is the importance of taking the correct form of Turmeric supplementation, Shabir has written twelve articles on this subject, one of which I am linking below and you can find the rest of those articles on the product page.  Of course Turmeric Curcumin C3 Complex will carry the DoSe branding in the fullness of time, but in and of this moment I am taking the price of Turmeric Curcumin C3 Complex down from £26 to £23.  Fulfilling intent and purpose.

Just a word here to thank everybody for their emails last weekend, most especially to those who wrote to Shabir following the first anniversary of What’s The Solution.  This is such an important aspect of the work that we do, so I want to take a moment here to say thank you as we move onto another supplement which will carry the DoSe branding and I’m writing about it today because Shabir has just tweaked the formulation.  And that supplement is Diosmin Plus.

Diosmin Plus has always been a really important supplement to help address poor circulation and although many traditional supplements incorporate ingredients which can work to thin the blood or prevent platelets from clumping together, in many circumstances they do not address the primary cause of poor circulation which is the improper functioning of the valves within the veins.  It is the loss of elasticity of the valves, or the dislodging of the valve tissue itself, that can lead to the accumulation of blood in the veins.

Diosmin is a naturally occurring hesperidin bioflavonoid which is extracted from the rinds of sweet oranges and although some of the afore-mentioned supplements include Diosmin in their ingredient listing, Diosmin is another compound which is poorly absorbed by the body, which is why Shabir formulated this supplement using Diosmin 95.  Diosmin 95 is a standardised, high-potency bioflavonoid extract, which has been shown to reach the bloodstream, working within the veins to help reduce all the markers for poor circulation.

In this formulation, Diosmin 95 is supported by a potent and synergistic blend of botanicals, including Horse Chestnut, Dandelion, Ginger Root, Gotu Kola and Pine Bark Extract, which are now joined by Vitamin C and Red Vine Leaf, the latter of which contributes to good blood flow in the legs.  Recommended for conditions including Varicose Veins, Haemorrhoids, Chilblains and Restless Leg Syndrome, let’s celebrate this new formulation by reducing the price of Diosmin Plus from £28 to £25 across the weekend.  A word of caution, please do not take Diosmin Plus if you are taking blood thinning medication.  It will contra-indicate.

More words than products on this newsletter and I will address that a little further down, but before we do that I know that many of you take Nutriburst’s Ashwagandha KSM-66 Gummies, so across this weekend we are reducing the price of those gummies from £21.99 to £18.  Sugar-free and vegan, these Ashwagandha Gummies are also gluten-free and they provide 300 mg of Ashwagandha root per serving, together with Iodine and Pantothenic Acid to help reduce tiredness and anxiety.
Ashwagandha KSM-66 £18 for 60 Gummies (Tropical Fruit Flavour) (offer ends at midnight GMT, Sunday 11 February)

Staying with products for the moment, two new products from TEMPLESPA to share with you.  The first is Soft Embrace, a rich and creamy shower mousse which is infused with some of the most warming and comforting Mediterranean essential oils, including Neroli, Thyme, Chamomile, Eucalyptus, Lavender, Patchouli and Myrrh.  For those who loved Truffle Mousse, which was a limited edition offering, Soft Embrace is released in memory of that indulgent experience, and I’m not sure whether Soft Embrace is also a limited edition offering because I forgot to ask.  Never mind, what will be, will be.  And what will also be is that when you buy Soft Embrace, we will automatically include AAAHHH (15 ml) as a gift with purchase.

Handled With Care, the second new product from TEMPLESPA, is a Restoring Hand Duo which come together as a ritual for the hands.  Soft At Heart (30 ml) is a hand polish which will buff away rough, dry skin using upcycled raspberry seed powder and jojoba wax spheres.  After rinsing your hands with warm water, follow through with Palm Balm (30 ml), an intensive hand cream for dry hands which is not a new product, but it is included in this set because it will help smooth, soothe and moisturise your hands.  And in true TEMPLESPA style, the packaging is thoughtful, which means it makes a perfect gift if you are in gifting mode.  And, as above, when you buy Handled With Care, we will automatically include AAAHHH (15 ml) as a gift with purchase.

At this point I would like to extend my heartfelt love and respect to Liz and Mark Warom, who are celebrating twenty-four years of TEMPLESPA this month.  I have known both of them for more than twenty years and of course we have listed TEMPLESPA on our site from the very early days.  In celebration, I had lunch with Liz two weeks ago, and although we haven’t seen each other for absolutely ages, it was wonderful to sit together and put the world to rights.  No talk about business, just a profound discussion about the importance of honouring those who walk with us.  And then we ate Italian Wedding Cake.

There are so many ways we can honour each other and although this is an ongoing conversation, I think it is incredibly important to demonstrate that honouring in the here and now.  I am not going to put many more words around this, so all I want to say here is that with so many of us taking the same supplementation, we are honouring ourselves with an awareness that we are able to age with grace and dignity, primarily because of the ongoing research and clinicals which allows a comprehensive understanding of the healthy ageing process.

To reiterate the importance of this stance, I believe that Hyaluronic Acid, NAD+ Generator and Fulvic Acid Elixir play an exceptionally important role in optimum health and wellbeing and in many ways I could describe them as my ‘holy grail’ products.  I absolutely know that I have shared promotions across all three of these products in recent weeks, but I’m going again with a 15% discount across each individual product, not only to reiterate their importance, but to honour the path we walk together.  A reinforcement of our values.  And my words addressed.
Hyaluronic Acid Capsules High Strength; NAD+ Generator; Fulvic Acid Elixir (offers end at midnight GMT, Sunday 11 February)

One more product to talk about and that product is Fulvic Face Cream.  A few weeks ago I wrote that we were retaining Ful.Vic.Health as a brand, which would be a stand-alone outside of the DoSe branding.  In many ways this could be a cryptic clue as to where we are going next, which I hope to be able to write about within the next three or four weeks, but in the meantime let me just say that Fulvic Face Cream plays an integral role in all that is to come, so in preparation I am dropping the price of Fulvic Face Cream down to £25 from £30.  Rock and roll.  With me.
Fulvic Face Cream £25 for 60 ml (offer ends at midnight GMT, Sunday 11 February)

And before we head into the Saturday only treat, a reminder that we are offering a 25% discount across all of the BetterYou products for the entire month of February.  After writing about the importance of medicinal bathing last weekend, it really didn’t surprise me that we had wait lists for the Magnesium Flakes collection, but those wait lists have thankfully disappeared and we are now back in stock.
BetterYou Products

So, into the Saturday only treat we go, and with every order placed for £35 or above, excluding p&p, we will automatically include a full-size Magnesium Oil Original Spray (100 ml)* from BetterYou.  Continuing the honouring of Magnesium, as per last weekend, full product details are listed below.

As we come to the end of another Weekend Read, all I really want to say here is that life can be exceptionally difficult at times, we all know that and I also know that many of us carry the scars of our own experiences and with those experiences ongoing for so many of us, I can totally relate to the words of The Impossible Dream. It is not only my story but, in a myriad of differing ways, I believe it is a collective story.  There are many versions of this song, but I have chosen this version, performed by Josh Groban.  No more words needed.

With love
