November Newsletter 2011
Welcome to the November newsletter where I have a great big treat for everybody who loves Hyaluronic Acid (HA) as much as I do, we have the global exclusive launch of the long-awaited new product from Lanolips and we take a look at dry skin conditions. We also focus on keeping ourselves healthy through the winter months, I write about a Magnesium treat, Shabir writes about the product that all women from the age of 35 should be taking and because I like to be organised ahead of time, I throw in some gorgeous suggestions for Christmas gifts, including a Wish Candle (loving it!). Additionally it wouldn’t be the VH newsletter if I didn’t have some exciting news about NUDE Skincare and I also have a bit of a rave moment about Sarah Chapman and the Facialift. Let’s go:
Hyaluronic Acid (HA)
I’m sorry, I can’t help myself, I have to start with this because I know that most of you are going to jump up and down with excitement when you read what I’m about to write. Unless you are new to VH or having been hiding under a rock for the past few years, you will know that HA is my all-time favourite anti-ageing supplement for helping to keep my skin plumped up and as I wrote in last month’s newsletter, Shabir and I consider it to be the one crucial supplement for anybody who is serious about anti-ageing. I think that we often take our supplements for granted, but I know what happens if you stop taking HA and it’s not cute! So given that most of us take it, I have a treat for you, so read carefully:
Because HA is our bestselling product and because of your incredible loyalty to the supplement (well it’s hard not to love it!), we have a limited volume of stock where you get 40 capsules for the price of 30 capsules. I’d love to take credit for this, but actually it was Shabir’s idea (see, men are useful sometimes!) and it is our way of saying thank you to each of you. I have visions of many of you stashing pots of this ‘limited edition’ away in your cupboards, but it is going to be sold on a first come, first served basis and the jury is out as to how long stocks last. HA forever – Go, go, go!
Hyaluronic Acid High Strength £35 for 40 Capsules (whilst stocks last)
Golden Ointment by Lanolips
I have been jumping up and down all year waiting for the moment when I could reveal the next chapter in the phenomenal Lanolips story. This multi award-winning brand is the brainchild of Kirsten Carriol and I don’t think there is one beauty editor who doesn’t have the cult Lanolips 101 in her handbag and/or most of the fabulous lip ointments too. There are three new products to launch over the next few months, but the story begins with the introduction of the ‘Lanolips Lovely Lanolin’ collection and Golden Ointment.
Golden Ointment is an intensely rich Super Medical Grade lanolin-based ointment for super dry skin and problematic skin issues. It is a completely natural mix of Lanolin, Manuka Honey and Vitamin E and some of you may remember me writing that when Shabir first saw this formulation, he nearly fell off his chair with excitement because Golden Ointment brings together three of the most powerful healing ingredients in one wondrous product. So a quick rundown on the three ingredients:
Ultra-Pure Medical Grade Lanolin: A luxuriously creamy purified lanolin ointment, which is cleansed of all colour, fragrance and impurities, it holds over 200% of its own weight in water making it a super moisturiser that nourishes the skin. It is hypoallergenic and is safe enough to use on newborns.
Manuka Honey: Manuka contains an enzyme that produces hydrogen peroxide, a proven antiseptic with antibacterial properties, which promotes wound healing. Manuka Honey is renowned for healing tissue, soothing inflammation and is often used for eczema and sunburn.
Vitamin E: As a moisturiser, Vitamin E is easily absorbed through the skin and has been shown to be effective in helping prevent irritation when applied topically.
The story behind Golden Ointment is completely compelling and in the words of Kirsten:
‘After the launch of my award-winning ‘Lanolips 101 Ointment’, I was contacted by a leading burns doctor who told me that she had always used pure medical-grade lanolin on her patients’ burns to assist the wound healing process. This was the inspiration for the first product in my new collection. Whilst it’s impossible to improve on the effectiveness of 101 as a targeted treatment for chapped lips and skin patches, I felt that I could develop a product specifically tailored to larger, critically dry skin areas. A product with all the award-winning benefits of Lanolips 101 Ointment, but with added natural, powerful ingredients to give it increased spread-ability and natural healing properties’.
Before I wrap this section just to say that Kirsten has written a fabulous article called ‘Lanolips – The Next Chapter’, so I hope you enjoy reading why Superman (yes, Clark Kent!) was an early inspiration for Kirsten and finally just to say that I have released Golden Ointment onto a Wait List, so get your name on the list now and you will be the very first in the world to receive this amazing new product in approximately three weeks time. Golden Ointment is the product that magnificently demonstrates the all-important crossover between health and beauty and I’m just counting the days!
Golden Ointment £17.99 for 50g; Lanolips 101 Ointment £11; Lanolips – The Next Chapter by Kirsten Carriol
Our weather has become so unpredictable that it is almost impossible to know which way the barometer is going to swing. One minute it’s pretty warm and the next the temperature plummets, so it is rather inevitable that this is the prime time to pick up coughs, colds and bugs. We have always maintained that the immune system should be protected all year round, but it is crucial that we safeguard ourselves through the winter months. Under normal circumstances, I would have written this section on the October newsletter, but the weather was so warm it seemed rather ridiculous, so a month later than scheduled, here is the lowdown on winter health and immunity.
In a nutshell, the immune system is unlike any other bodily system as it involves the complex interaction between physical structures, such as the thymus gland (the major gland of immunity) and our hormones, together with numerous processes in the gut, which coupled with nutritional deficiencies, could potentially result in a lowered immune response to foreign bacteria or a virus. As a starting point, Shabir always, always recommends taking Astragalus as a base supplement from the first day of autumn to the first day of spring, but in addition there are specifically targeted supplements, which work extraordinarily well either in conjunction with Astragalus or as a stand-alone regimen.
Astragalus Extract by Swanson £24.50 for 120 Capsules (500 mg)
Triple Flu Defense: This is one very clever little product as it is specifically re-formulated each year for the current flu season. It combines the wisdom of the past with the most current research on the ever-changing flu viruses using various scientific data for maximum effectiveness in fighting this season’s flu viruses. Triple Flu Defense (it’s American, thus the spelling!) should be taken just once per week for optimum defence throughout the flu season, or it can be taken three times per day for flu symptom relief. Taken on a weekly basis, each bottle will give you eight months of protection by taking just 20 drops. So simple, yet stunningly effective and the feedback we received from so many of you last year about the efficacy of this product makes me want to stand on a podium and shout out to the world ‘you really need to take this’. Ahem!
Triple Flu Defense 2011-2012 Flu Season £22.95 for 30 ml
10 Day Get Well, Stay Well: I should really let Sarah Stacey (Health Editor of YOU magazine) write about this, because it is one of her most favourite supplements, but I’ll be kind to her and do it myself. All I will tell you is that at the first sign of anything, Sarah triple doses and it always does the trick. This ‘magic bullet’ is a comprehensive blend of immune boosting and anti-viral herbs in one easy to use supplement, which can be taken twice daily for the prevention of colds and flu or alternatively by taking a booster dose of six capsules a day when you have a viral infection, thus the name ’10 Day Get Well, Stay Well’. Blended with ingredients such as Zinc, Beta-Carotene, Astragalus, Echinacea and Maitake, we call this our ‘winter emergency supplement’ just because it’s brilliant.
10 Day Get Well, Stay Well £26.50 for 60 Capsules
The Facialift, Intense Hydrating Booster, Sarah Chapman, Sarah Vine, Sarah Stacey and a Miracle
Well that’s some kind of a headline and we seem to be in the midst of a triple ‘Sarah’ moment, so I will do my best not to confuse you. After we launched Sarah Chapman’s Facialift on last month’s newsletter (if you missed it, click here), we have been flooded with emails with most of you pledging your life (and face) to this bonkers facial instrument. I have read incredible stories about jowls virtually disappearing, faces tightening and, heavens above (!), uplifted faces, as we each roll away the years (and stress) religiously. I think I would cry if somebody took my Facialift away from me because let me tell you it is pretty addictive, seconded by the Beauty Bible girls, Sarah Stacey and Jo Fairley, who call it ‘hope-in-a-gizmo’ instead of a jar!
All this neatly dovetails into the launch of Sarah Chapman’s wonderful products on VH, so now for the miracle. I have discovered that there is one of Sarah’s products that I can actually use because it doesn’t have essential oils in it, therefore I will not end up screaming and shouting in A&E with yet another horrific allergy. So a very, very big hello as I welcome Intense Hydrating Booster into my life. Why the excitement, because it is a topical combination of HA and anti-inflammatories, which my skin completely adores and the beauty of it is that it can be used alongside any skincare routine. Cue the third Sarah, the fabulous Sarah Vine whose weekly columns in The Saturday Times magazine always make me shriek with laughter, so this is Sarah Vine on Intense Hydrating Booster in a feature called ‘Autumn Survival Guide’:
‘I have free and unfettered access to as many beauty remedies as a girl could wish for …. in the morning, Sarah Chapman (wonder facialist) and her Intense Hydrating Booster provide the perfect cocktail for thirsty skin. Sadly, I can’t keep Sarah in my bathroom cabinet, but this is the next best thing. It’s good for general crepeyness, being stacked with a potent combination of hyaluronic acid and anti-inflammatories. You can use it night or day, or both, depending on need, and it’s heaven if you’re flying long-haul or exposing your skin to cold and wind’.
I use Intense Hydrating Booster (IHB) as a base for the rest of my skincare and I’m also rather partial to slapping it on after I’ve taken my make-up off at night and rolling it into my skin with the Facialift. One further tip, add a drop of IHB to your foundation and it will glide on like a dream and help plump your skin all at the same time. Now that really is a miracle!
The Facialift £25; Intense Hydrating Booster £57 for 30 ml
Perimenopause and Menopause
When a woman gets to a ‘certain age’, her menstrual cycle is brought to an end when menopause kicks in. A whole year free from a period is good confirmation that menopause has arrived and marks the end of fertility as well as the end of the functionality of the ovaries. Oestrogen levels at this point decline massively, however the onset of menopause does not occur abruptly, but the female sex hormone production declines over a period of time, which is often referred to as the perimenopause, or pre-menopause. Although each woman will have a unique and variable experience, it is important to understand how long the transition between perimenopause and menopause can last.
In his latest editorial feature, ‘Hormone Mimicking Supplements Should Be Used By Nearly All Woman Over 35’ Shabir takes a look at perimenopause, the common (and uncommon) signs of perimenopause, menopause itself and the secret of phytoestrogens. We always take a stance of trying to deal with the causal factor of any health concern, not just the symptoms, so please do read this important article because it just might be a whole lot better to knock the causal factors of menopause right out of the equation and then hopefully you won’t have to deal with some of the horrid symptoms such as mood swings, rants, rages and night sweats.
VH Editorial: Perimenopause/Menopause; Sage Complex £23.95 for 90 Capsules
Take Three Products
On last month’s newsletter I wrote about Take Three Products and in case you missed it, this is where I invited each of you to mail me your three favourite VH products together with a few words explaining the reason why. I said that I would publish one winner on each newsletter and the winner would get a gift from me, except the thing is that I have changed it all around, because I’ve decided to up the ante (love a bit of fun!) and publish weekly, exclusively on Facebook and Twitter. Read on:
It’s called Take 3, it gets released every Thursday morning, I select two people each week and if you want to join in then please follow us on Twitter or our Facebook page. I think you might want to follow this because there is a weekly treat for each of you, so just to be neat our first two winners were Niamh Norton and Vanja Coffey, listed below are the products they selected and if you want to participate, then please send all emails to firstname.lastname@example.org with the heading ‘Take 3’. Oh, and to the fabulous customer who put Shabir in her top three, the last time I looked, he wasn’t a product, but it did make me laugh and now I’m wondering how much I could sell him for because if the price is right, I could give all this up and sit on an island in the sun – yessss! Here we go, Niamh’s three products first, followed by Vanja:
Hyaluronic Acid: I have been taking these for the last two months and there is already a definite improvement to my skin, which just looks more hydrated. I also like the fact that I am treating my skin from the inside out.
Hyaluronic Acid High Strength £35 for 40 Capsules (whilst stocks last)
Lanolips 101 Ointment: I love the fact that this product has so many uses, it especially works wonders on my dry skin patches and cracked lips. I even use a small amount as a highlighter on the top of my cheek bones.
Lanolips 101 Ointment £11
Restoraderm Skin Restoring Moisturiser: This product leaves my normal moisturiser standing; it’s a fantastic product and makes your skin feel as though it’s holding onto moisture. I go to the gym most days and I sweat a lot, which leaves my skin very dry, but this product has made a big difference. Definitely a ‘Holy Grail’ product.
Restoraderm Skin Restoring Moisturiser by Cetaphil £19.99 for 295 ml
Konjac Sponge White Round: My face just feels so soft and gently exfoliated – brilliant really.
Konjac Sponge £12
Maui Babe Browning Lotion: I used this for the first time this summer in Croatia and I could not believe how tanned I looked after using it (and I didn’t spend hours sunbathing) especially my legs, which hardly ever get good cover.
Maui Babe Browning Lotion £23 for 236 ml
Skin Restoring Ceramides: I love all Life Extension supplements, but this one wins hands down, even my over processed highlighted hair feels more moisturised!
Skin Restoring Ceramides by Life Extension £25 for 30 Liquid Capsules
Superior Joints and Magnesium Oil Original Flakes
On last month’s newsletter, we released Superior Joints, a new American ‘next generation’ supplement to help ease the stiffness in joints. Alongside the launch of Superior Joints, Shabir wrote an article that explained the science behind Natural Egg Shell Membrane, the lead ingredient. If you missed it then please click here to read all about it and I have to tell you that Shabir is so excited about the research, he is taking it himself because his left wrist has ceased up (trying hard not to laugh) because of excessive use of his Blackberry. Secretly I think his age is catching up with him and he won’t admit to having joint problems, but that’s another story for another time. Meanwhile, if you do suffer from arthritis or joint problems, I am about to make you a whole lot happier, so read on.
I have often written about the magnificence of Magnesium Oil Original Flakes, which are dry flakes of magnesium chloride and are completely sensational for easing aches and pains, helping to heal compromised skin conditions, such as psoriasis, eczema and dermatitis. Soaking in magnesium salts has been shown to help improve skin hydration, speed wound healing and decrease inflammation. They are also pretty remarkable for helping relax the entire body and if used in the evening, they are excellent for insomniacs. We are all totally hooked on the flakes and if you haven’t tried them yet, I urge you do so because they are life-changing in my opinion.
With love and hugs to the wonderful Better You boys, I have a treat for you. If you buy either Magnesium Oil Original Flakes and/or Superior Joints, we will automatically throw in a baby packet of Magnesium Oil Original Flakes worth £3.95. This is enough for one bath or one foot bath (brilliant for painful foot joints) but it will not show up on your invoice, so don’t panic and we only have a limited amount, so it’s going to be first come, first served. See the thing is, whilst I wish I could wave a magic wand and cure all joint problems, it doesn’t quite work like that (if only!), but these two products used together will go a long way to helping ease the pain and that is the all important thing.
Superior Joints £29.95 for 60 Capsules; Magnesium Oil Original Flakes £9.95 for 1 kg
Some Of My Favourite Things
I can barely believe that we only have one more newsletter before the end of the year, which of course means that Christmas is almost upon us, although in my head I still think we are in September! So let’s get organised because it would be rather wonderful to have all presents bought and wrapped by the second week of November and not leave it to the last minute. I am listing below some of my most favourite gifts and the way I look at buying gifts is by asking whether I would like to receive it myself? The answer is a resounding ‘yes’ to everything on this list, so I hope you love them as much as I do:
Limited Edition Christmas Wish Candle: Well, no surprise that I would start with a candle because you all know how much I love and adore the NEOM candles. This limited edition, three wick organic treatment candle is filled with a distinctive Christmas blend of warm, spicy notes of Cinnamon, Ginger, Mandarin and Tonka Bean, which is a perfect mix to create the festive mood. It is presented in a limited edition ‘sparkle’ Christmas Wish box, with gold candle glass and it burns for up to 55 hours. I love the whole idea of wishing upon a candle, so to me this is a very, very special gift. For every candle sold, NEOM will donate £1 to Make-A-Wish Foundation, which grants magical wishes to children and young people fighting life-threatening illnesses.
Christmas Wish Candle by NEOM £40
Dedicated Edition of The Anti-Ageing Beauty Bible: When this book was released earlier this year, it whooshed straight to the top of the bestselling lists and I’m not surprised because this is the book that is crammed full of amazing information, award-winning products and beauty tips. Because I’m a bit of a princess (hold on – I’m a major princess!), Sarah and Jo presented me with one of the first editions with a special, personalised dedication and they have pledged to do the same for each of you, so this is how it will work. If you want a dedication, either to yourself or as a gift, then please order the book and write the dedication in the ‘notes box’ on your order. We will pass these through to the girls and they will burn the midnight oil signing these for you. Please allow at least 10 days for delivery, so the sooner you place your order, the better because I would hate to disappoint you.
The Anti-Ageing Beauty Bible by Josephine Fairley & Sarah Stacey £12.99
SilkSkin: I wrote about the SilkSkin pillowcase and eye mask on the October newsletter, so if you missed what I wrote just click here because you may think I’m going senile if I repeat myself. All I will say here is that either of these would make perfect gifts, but the two together would be complete heaven.
SilkSkin Pillowcase £36; SilkSkin Luxury Eye Mask £30
This Works Christmas Crackers: When these arrive in the office each year, I know that Christmas is just round the corner and either of these crackers make brilliant stocking fillers. There are two different versions this year, ‘Dream’ and ‘Star’; the Dream Christmas Cracker contains lavender infused Sleep Balm and the Star Christmas Cracker contains the award-winning Turbo Balm.
Dream Christmas Cracker £10; Star Christmas Cracker £10
Cuddleduck: Sorry, but I can’t help myself, we have all fallen in love with Cuddleduck because he is just so cute. He is handmade in Spain using natural rubber, so he contains no nasties for babies and is soft and squashy for tiny hands to hold. A quick squeeze and he will give a rather satisfying squeak, and although this is meant to delight babies, it delights all of us too. In a gorgeous polka dot design, he is a welcome addition to any bathroom and is presented in a pretty organza bag. I don’t know what it is about ducks, but we all adore them and you can find more fabulous ducks on the ‘Gift’ section of our site. Ducks rock!
Cuddleduck £5.99; Gifts
NEOM Travel Candles: A deserved second appearance for NEOM because I think that a selection of the Travel Candles would make a very special gift. You all know I am besotted, most especially because I wrote reams and reams about them on the October newsletter, but here is another thought; you can spoil guests by putting a gift wrapped travel candle on each place setting at the dinner table, which is lovely touch for special occasion dinner parties and Christmas Lunch. I love Complete Bliss and Real Luxury. Just saying!
NEOM Travel Candles £13 each
This Works Deep Sleep Box: Two simple solutions to help you get a good night’s sleep; enjoy the sleep-inducing benefits of Lavender and Rose essential oils in Sleep Balm and then lie back and unwind with a Lavender Scented Eye Mask. These two products are presented in a beautiful silver box with a black bow printed on the front. Perfect!
This Works Deep Sleep Box £12
This Works Hands Set: Another fabulous silver box, this time containing two award-winning handbag size products for instant treatment wherever you are. Perfect Hands Intense Moisture is a potent complex of Rose, Mimosa and Larch extract to help tighten skin and lock in moisture and Turbo Balm is a high grade Monoi oil to help soothe and hydrate cuticles and dry skin.
This Works Hands Set £20
The Radiance Collection: Well, you might have known that I would put a NUDE Skincare product in here and the reason it is in this list is because this collection contains two of NUDE’s bestselling products, the award-winning Replenishing Night Oil and the Cleansing Facial Oil, gorgeously boxed together. This latest offering from NUDE has been the runaway success I thought it would be, mostly because you get both products for £49 (saving £19) and that’s rather brilliant in itself, but imagine how you would feel if you had never used any NUDE Skincare product and received this as a gift. Well, I would love that person forever, so you could just be THAT person!
The Radiance Collection (Replenishing Night Oil & Cleansing Facial Oil) £49
I think there are several things that are paramount in health and beauty, but there are three things that are right on the top of my list, passion, integrity and efficacy and this lady runs her business with that same ethos, so please step up onto The Podium, Cheryl Thallon of Viridian Nutrition. Cheryl founded the company in 1999 with two fundamental principles; to develop a range of supplements with the highest ethical standards and to generate significant funds for children’s and environmental charities. Ethics in nutritional supplements starts at the ownership of the company and continues through the sourcing of ingredients and manufacturing procedures, and it is this attention to detail that makes it very easy for me to support Viridian Nutrition.
Being at the top of your game means that you have to keep a constant eye on research and development and Viridian do just that. In YOU magazine a few months ago, a reader asked which Vitamin B supplement was nearest to the products in the recent Optima trial (the Oxford University project to study memory and ageing), which showed positive results with people suffering from age-related memory loss. Shabir recommended High Twelve B Complex because it was the supplement that came closest to the trial conditions and it is a stunning supplement. It contains a high dose of cobalamin (B12) in a base of all the B vitamins, so High Twelve goes onto The Podium with Cheryl because if you are concerned about age-related memory loss, this is the one supplement that you need to be taking. To celebrate its Podium appearance, if you buy High Twelve B Complex during the month of November, then we will send you Viridian’s Omega 3:6:9 Oil, which is also rather brilliant, has a value of £3.95 and all you need to do is take one to three teaspoons daily.
High Twelve B Complex by Viridian £14.70 for 90 Capsules; 100% Organic Omega 3:6:9 Oil £3.95 for 30 ml
I can’t end this section without making reference to Viridian’s 100% Organic Raw Coconut Oil, because although it has been around for a long time, it recently became a ‘buzz product’ after Miranda Kerr decided to extol the virtues of Coconut Oil all over the press. I will just say that there is a huge difference between ‘pure’ coconut oil and ‘organic’ coconut oil and I wrote all about why Coconut Oil was trending on the September newsletter (click here to read). We love putting a teaspoon of Coconut Oil in a natural yoghurt (tastes like liquid Bounty!), but Cheryl has other ideas too, so do please take the time to read her guest editorial feature on Coconut Oil because it’s fascinating. Cheryl, I thank you for your support and I thank you for your kindness in gifting our customers as above.
100% Organic Raw Coconut Oil by Viridian £14 for 500g; Travel Size 25g for £3.95; VH Editorial: Coconut Oil
Hair Loss/Thinning Hair
I will often write about hair loss and thinning hair because it is a major concern, not only for men, but for an increasing amount of women too. The single biggest factor of hair loss in women is an imbalance of the female hormones, which leads to male hormone dominance. This can happen at varying stages of life, but it is this dominance that leads to excessive hair shredding and it can have a profound impact on lifestyle.
Over the years there has been much research about hair loss together with the usual outrageous claims about products formulated to make your hair grow back rapidly. It reminds me of when I had a Barbie doll, which came with the by-line ‘her hair grows’, so you pushed a button and hey presto, her hair did grow, but we are living in the real world and we need real results, which is why I am about to tell you about three products that will really help with hair loss and thinning hair.
The first is of course Superior Hair, the only supplement that we believe addresses the issue of helping to prevent hair loss and also helps encourage new hair growth. Superior Hair contains a combination of well researched nutrients, such as DIM, MSM and Biotin formulated to help support hair strength, follicle health, the production of new hair growth and the reduction of hair follicle cell death.
The next two products are from America, they are new to VH and were researched and developed by Peter Lamas, who has used centuries traditions from the Far East in combination with the latest scientific innovations to naturally help support hair growth and help prevent future loss. There is a shampoo, Stimulating Shampoo, and a conditioner, Stimulating Conditioner, and these form part of his Chinese Herbs Regenerating System. The natural formulas incorporate traditional herbs such as Swertia Extract to aid in hair and scalp health, Peach Seed Extract to help promote growth and Polygonum Multiforum Extract, which has been used by Chinese doctors for centuries to treat thinning hair.
Based on the latest scientific research, the Chinese Herbs Regenerating System targets the hair follicle as well as the scalp. The formulations also help alleviate dandruff and itchiness, helps remove hair follicle blocking oils and clears the DHT build-up that can slow hair growth and lead to premature hair loss. Pretty impressive is what I think!
Superior Hair £25 for 90 Capsules; Chinese Herbs Stimulating Shampoo £16 for 250 ml; Chinese Herbs Stimulating Conditioner £16 for 250 ml
Restoraderm Skin Restoring Body Wash and Skin Restoring Moisturiser
I released these two new products on the October newsletter, but at the same time I had a whole team of VH testers with compromised skin conditions (dry skin, eczema, psoriasis etc) using both of these products because it is really important to me that whilst I think they are completely magnificent, I needed you to think the same, well you did and here are some of your comments:
Restoraderm Skin Restoring Body Wash: This wash was fantastic, as a sufferer of dry skin and psoriasis, it benefited my skin without irritating it; I would not have thought that a body wash could make so much difference to my skin, but the change is quite remarkable; this is a product that will be in my wash bag forever; this stuff was amazing and I really put it to the test; it got rid of all my dry patches and rendered my skin smooth and soft; I am so impressed – can I please have a lifetimes supply?!!
Restoraderm Skin Restoring Moisturiser: I have had skin problems for 20 years, with regular flare-ups every few weeks and I cannot believe how my skin is healing, I am totally clear of any sore areas; I am delighted with the results, the dry skin on my knees and elbows are lovely and soft; I’m converted – no more itchy, scaly shins; I’m definitely a convert, all my dry patches now look like normal skin; I have been on holiday and I sometimes suffer with prickly heat … the lotion really helped to calm it down and clear it up; I will definitely be using this product during the winter as that is when my skin becomes particularly dry, tight and itchy.
Just to wrap, we had 20 people testing these products and there was just one tester who didn’t think the moisturiser worked for her, but as I have always maintained, we are all different and not everything will work for everybody. Having said that, I am completely thrilled with the positive feedback, I use the products myself because I am also prone to eczema and I really, really love them. I have to add that I am also hooked on Skin Restoring Ceramides and will probably write about this supplement on every newsletter going forward because this supplement makes such a dramatic difference to dry skin and compromised skin conditions. Amazing!
Restoraderm Skin Restoring Body Wash £15.99 for 295 ml; Restoraderm Skin Restoring Moisturiser £19.95 for 295 ml; Skin Restoring Ceramides £25 for 30 Liquid Capsules
One of my happiest moments is when I receive the monthly editorial features from the VH editorial team. Two reasons, firstly because they are all experts in their respective fields and secondly I take great joy in the fact that they have written them and not me! So, I have already mentioned that this month we have guest editorial features from Kirsten Carriol, founder of Lanolips and Cheryl Thallon, founder of Viridian; Shabir has written about perimenopause/menopause (go Shabir!); Shelley von Strunckel guides us through with her November Health Stars; Jo Fairley writes about cold weather beauty; Lulu washes away time; Kate Shapland continues her quest on legs and the Beauty Bible girls invite you to save your neck. I’m indebted to their brilliance, thank you girls (and Shabir)!
As I’m writing this, I am laughing to myself because I just know that a lot of you will have scrolled straight to this section to see exactly what I was going to write about NUDE this month! Well, I really wouldn’t want to disappoint you and as I indicated at the beginning of this newsletter, I have some more fabulous NUDE Skincare treats for you, so we are going to talk about the launch of Advanced Cellular Renewal Moisturiser (ACRM) and how it has been formulated to work in conjunction Advanced Cellular Renewal Serum (ACRS).
Advanced Cellular Renewal Serum: This global bestselling serum was formulated to help correct the signs of ageing and help the skin repair itself. Although you can use this serum morning and evening, we recommend using just a couple of drops in the evening and follow with the Advanced Cellular Renewal Moisturiser. This is the serum that has achieved high acclaim from customers worldwide who are pretty staggered at the long-term results of the probiotic technology used in this breakthrough serum.
Advanced Cellular Renewal Serum £68 for 30 ml
Advanced Cellular Renewal Moisturiser: The official launch of ACRM took place last week, but very happily for us, we had the global exclusive pre-launch of this product and I wrote about it on the September newsletter. The only thing that I will add to what I wrote in September (click here to read all about it) is that the feedback we are getting is pretty phenomenal. This is the moisturiser that was formulated to use in conjunction with ACRS and although you can of course use either as stand-alone products, the combination of using both gives somewhat remarkable results, so please read the next paragraph carefully.
Advanced Cellular Renewal Moisturiser £78 for 50 ml
With the best will in the world, it is not always possible to provide samples of skincare products, but with much love and thanks to NUDE skincare, I have samples for you to try. So here is how it will work; if you buy ACRS, then we will send you a sample of ACRM to use in conjunction with the serum, or if you buy ACRM, then we will send you a sample of ACRS to use with the moisturiser. Each of the samples are worth approximately £4.50 each, each will last three or four days (less is more please) and they will go a long way to demonstrate the synergistic brilliance of using these two products together. We have a limited number of samples, so as ever this will be done on a first come, first served basis.
Moving on, much has been written about Replenishing Night Oil (RNO) over the past few months and I have of course written about The Radiance Collection, which includes RNO, earlier in this newsletter. The testimonials received from you about RNO are completely staggering and so I was particularly thrilled when Anna Ghee, MD of NUDE Skincare, told me that your amazing support had helped rocket RNO to being NUDE’s bestselling product in the brand’s history, so by way of a thank you, I have a further treat for you.
Replenishing Night Oil £44 for 15 ml
The first 100 people to buy any NUDE Skincare product, including ACRS and ACRM, will receive a 15 ml sample of NUDE’s Miracle Mask, which is worth £14. So if you haven’t already discovered the Miracle Mask, let me tell you that it lives up to its name and I love the timing of this gift because it is completely perfect for the party season. Just use one or two pumps on your face and it will boost your skin to be ‘red carpet ready’. This is one product that is worth discovering and I have to say that I am also a massive fan of the Advanced Eye Complex because it just ‘does it’ for me, and bearing in mind that I stare at my computer day and night, I need real help with puffy eyes and dark circles. Hurray for NUDE Skincare is what I say!
Miracle Mask £38 for 40 ml; Advanced Eye Complex £62 for 15 ml
The End Bit
Finally, we come to the end of yet another epic-length newsletter, so if you are all still with me I just need to thank you for your feedback on the following three products:
This Works Pillow Spray – £15: A dream of a product, just spray onto your pillowcase (SilkSkin of course) and waft into a lavender induced sleep.
Nail Magic – £9.95: Helping to restore and grow nails, this is what magic is all about!
NEOM’s Reed Diffusers – £32: Clever people are giving their clothes a refreshed lease of life by placing one of NEOM’s Reed Diffusers in their wardrobes, not to mention bathrooms, bedrooms and hallways. These reeds will revolutionise the way you scent your home. Just for the record, I use the Refresh Diffuser in my wardrobe, Complete Bliss in my bathroom and Real Luxury in my hall. Close your eyes Shabir, I’ve just eaten up this year’s profits, but do I care – actually, no!
All that remains is for me to thank each and every one of you for your amazing loyalty and support, so together with the VH team and the VH editorial team, we wish you a healthy and happy November.
