When was Aurelia founded and what was your first ever product?

Aurelia launched in January 2013, after 18 months of research, technology development, formulation testing and selecting just the right blends of essential oils. It was an amazing feeling to see the website go live, to see the first orders coming through and to receive such fantastic feedback! I decided to launch Aurelia with a core capsule range of five key products, they complement each other perfectly and form a simple routine designed to improving skin health and tackle the challenges of age prevention.

What is your background?

I worked for nine years for one of the world’s leading global pharmaceutical and consumer healthcare companies, GlaxoSmithKline (GSK). As a Marketing Director within GSK’s Global Dermatology Centre of Excellence I took a leading role in launching evidence-based technology into markets whilst identifying and considering the varying needs of different skin types around the world. I met a lot of patients with skin concerns that ranged from eczema and psoriasis to those seeking solutions for dry skin, protection from the sun and ageing. It was clear to me that reducing inflammation within the skin and balancing the skin’s defence system was critical to achieving and maintaining healthy, youthful skin. It was then that I discovered the power of probiotics.

What was the inspiration for the creation of Aurelia?

During my late 20s and early 30s, my skin started to change. It became dry and signs of wrinkles started to appear around my eyes. I realised that I needed to ‘step up’ my skincare routine to help prevent ageing before the wrinkles really started to make themselves at home! From conversations with friends I realised we were all looking for the same thing, but not one brand stood out. We wanted a brand focused on luxury twinned with nature avoiding ingredients that are detrimental to the skin and formulated and proven by scientists for serious age prevention.

What is the brand philosophy?

Aurelia Probiotic Skincare continually seeks scientific excellence by pushing the boundaries of skincare. We are passionate about providing women with revolutionary, next generation probiotic technology combined with ethically sourced 100% BioOrganic botanical formulations.

Why a probiotic skincare range?

So many challenges we face with our skin are down to cellular inflammation and the effect this has, not only on the ageing process, but on many skin conditions. Probiotic technology has the power to reduce inflammation within the skin resulting in deceleration of the ageing process and in many cases a dramatic improvement in more serious skin conditions. Scientific studies proved that probiotics balance the skin’s defence system, and can help to prevent accelerated skin ageing. It was vital to me that the technology behind Aurelia was scientifically proven, and I was thrilled to discover a naturally derived technology to fit perfectly with Aurelia Skincare. The probiotics themselves use immune modulatory glycoproteins from bifido bacteria to generate targeted responses in the skin, balancing stress-damaged skin and stabilising the skin’s defence system.

Which product are you most proud of, and why?

The product which really makes me proud has to be the Miracle Cleanser. It is so critical to get your cleansing stage right – it is the foundation of healthy skin and this cleanser has everything you need and more! The creamy aromatic texture removes all signs of makeup whilst gently cleansing ensuring, the acid mantle of the skin remains intact as well as giving a good hit of our 3 technologies to reduce inflammation and plump the skin. Removal of the cleanser with our unique bamboo cloth gently stimulates the skin, removes dead surface cells and preps the skin for subsequent product. The amount of fantastic reviews we’ve had for it, the abundance of great global press and the awards we have achieved for it makes it one of our firm favourites!

Tips for using your products?

There are some brilliant skincare tips that my team and I have found since using the range, showing just how versatile the products can be. Make sure you apply all the products with care, ensuring that you take time to massage your skin deeply to stimulate collagen, improve lymphatic drainage and the vitality of your skin. I love doing this with the Miracle Cleanser or the Cell Revitalise Rose Mask as my skin really glows after removing with the bamboo muslin. One tip I enjoy is mixing the Revitalise & Glow Serum with my foundation for a lightweight, hydrating dewy glow when I want something lighter. Also, try applying the Revitalise & Brighten Eye Dew (part of the Eye Revitalising Duo) during long-haul flights for refreshed, luminous eyes when you land.

Your three bestselling products?

We are thrilled that all of our products have been received amazingly well since January 2013, and we are particularly delighted to have won awards for all five of the products we entered in the recently published Ultimate Natural Beauty Bible. However the standout favourites so far have been the Miracle CleanserRevitalise & Glow Serum and Cell Repair Night Oil. We were very proud to win a Tatler Award Highly Commended for our Miracle Cleanser last month and excitingly we were awarded The Beauty Shortlist Best Eye Cream for our Eye Revitalising Duo – one of the newer products in the range which is fast becoming another favourite. Most recently our Revitalise & Glow Serum was awarded a prestigious Red Magazine Green Beauty Award.

What are you currently working on?

We are working hard on the launch of two gorgeous new products to the range due out in May. We are so excited to introduce our first body product – the Firm & Revitalise Dry Body Oil – in time for summer and a revolutionary enzyme facial polish – the Refine & Polish Miracle Balm – to really make your skin glow all year round. We are so excited to share these with our customers.

How do you see the future for Aurelia?

We have lots of exciting plans in place with some amazing new products in the pipeline, as well as some wonderful collaborations. We want as many women as possible worldwide to discover the power of probiotics and to experience luxury age prevention through Aurelia Skincare. At the moment, the future is looking very bright for us!
