December Newsletter 2013
Welcome to the December newsletter where we take a retrospective look at the year and I also write about the exceptional new products from Julisis together with some early feedback on the range. The highlights for me over the past twelve months include launching new, cutting-edge brands and sharing them with you. I will be jumping onto The Podium later in this newsletter to talk about this, but for now you need to know that my sharing gene has come out to play, as it does every December, and this newsletter is loaded with treats, so you will need to read it very carefully. There are a couple of overlaps on product treats, but we are all different and the choice, as ever, is yours. Just to say that if you are a Phylia fan, there is a treat worth £60 on here too. Let’s go:
On the November newsletter we launched a new skincare brand into the UK, Julisis and I threw the focus on the Silver night time preparations, which I absolutely love. I also wrote that the products were in high demand on a global level and that there would be times when we would have to wait for products to come back into stock as they are not mass produced; please click here if you missed what I wrote and if I can just extrapolate on that, the products are created in the original laboratory owned by Swiss alchemist, Paracelsus, using 17th century machinery and it takes 13 months to complete the cycle of creating the Gold preparations.
Anyway, I was starting to have a mild panic attack as I watched my Silver Cream Night descend down the tube, but thankfully it has now come back into stock as this is one of my favourite products from the range and I remain thoroughly addicted to the relaxing scent and several of you feel the same. I actually can’t even find the words to describe it, other than to say I think it is out of this world and one of the VH Addicts sent me this: ‘The Silver Cream Night really sends me to sleep and I’m a chronic insomniac. I have to put it on EXACTLY when I want to sleep’. Wow, the power!
Silver Cream Night £165 for 50 ml
As I wrote on the November newsletter, this skincare range is expensive and it is not for everybody, but the feedback we have received so far has been pretty amazing, but I knew it would be because they are exceptional products. The first thing I am going to do is to tell you that Eyemulsion has become rather iconic even though I barely wrote about it. If you have Eyemulsion, a couple of tips; you can dab a tiny amount on frown lines or jowls and over time these will soften (how wonderful!) and you can also use a very thin layer of Eyemulsion as a face mask. We are currently sending out samples of Eyemulsion with each Julisis order, so you can throw all caution to the wind and use the entire sample at once if you feel the need!
Eyemulsion £189 for 20 ml
I am now going to tell you about the Gold preparations, which should be used every morning. Before that, I received this email from a customer, which made me smile and so I am going to share it with you:
‘I am almost at a loss for words! There is nothing I can say that you don’t already know about Julisis…I am completely blown away by how rich the Gold Emulsion feels when you put it on yet it absorbs at light speed…totally, utterly, amazing…and so begins a new and very welcome addiction. I think the kids will have to live off beans on toast until I have managed to accrue the whole collection…please don’t tell social services!’
The Gold Preparations
The day preparations are infused with the Julisis liquid gold essence; there are four products and they have been formulated to work synergistically, although you can of course use them as stand-alone products. If I had to choose just one or two to start with, I would go for Gold Elexir Day and/or Gold Emulsion Day, although it’s a really difficult choice because using the entire range will completely re-balance your skin on a cellular level after four or five weeks. This much I know, one or two people have asked me recently whether I have had a face-lift; the answer is of course no, but I like the thought that they thought I had, in a perverse kind of way! Here comes Gold:
Gold Wash Day: A mild and aromatic liquid cleanser that refreshes your skin and senses through an alchemistic combination of white neroli flower extract, carrot oil, jojoba and Julisis liquid gold essence. Ideal to start your day, the Gold Wash Day maintains the ideal natural pH-balance of your skin, ready to receive the other Gold preparations.
Gold Wash Day £62 for 150 ml (Pre-Order only)
Gold Neroli Toner Day: Infused with energizing essences, Gold Neroli Toner Day refreshes, vitalizes and stimulates a radiant, healthy complexion. It helps to activate the energy system of your skin and it should be used whenever skin needs extra moisture or an aromatic boost (often!). It is also pretty brilliant for frequent travellers.
Gold Neroli Toner Day £60 for 150 ml
Gold Elexir Day: This beautiful, melts-into-skin elixir features the purest form of liquid gold, known to help activate the skin’s own energy system. The result: total radiance. Gold Elexir Day is so ultra-gentle, it’s actually recommended by many doctors and dermatologists for post-surgery skincare use. I am passionate about the elexirs, they are outstanding.
Gold Elexir Day £189 for 30 ml (one drop will cover your entire face and neck)
Gold Emulsion Day: This is a bio-active compound with natural enzymes from wildflower honey, propolis and queen bee jelly and is formulated with liquid gold essence. This moisturizer acts to make your skin supple, sealing moisture in and helps tone and smooth. Fine lines and wrinkles appear less visible and it also helps stabilize sensitive and irritated skin. Gold Emulsion Day permeates instantly for all-day protection, but if your skin is quite dry, then a second application should be used.
Gold Emulsion Day £163 for 50 ml
Right, I’ve done Silver (last month) and Gold and now for the Facial Oil Serum, which can be used either as a stand-alone or incorporated into the Julisis regimen:
Facial Oil Serum: Although – as Julisis devotees will tell you – the products work synergistically to promote skin improvements, this delicious fusion of natural oils is enough to seduce any lover of facial oils. Based on biodynamic seed oils with white diamond essence, it takes just a drop or two to soften and smooth the whole face and neck. Or use a single drop to ‘customise’ the Silver or Gold Emulsions for thirsty complexions. Completely divine and as you only need to use a tiny amount, this should last for at least six months.
Facial Oil Serum £128 for 30 ml
We are now going to take a look at some of the products we have launched over the past year and this is going to include the various treats, offers and pop-ups, which I know you have loved. I’m going to try to be neat and do them in month order, but a few of the treats do not have a specific month attributed to them and some of them I have just created. It’s a bit of a roller-coaster ride, so get prepared as we rock through the treats.
Just a couple of things to say, some of these treats are going to fly out very quickly; we will endeavour to keep our site up-dated and if a particular treat is over, we will put a notice on the product page, if we can keep up with you! Also, we are currently waiting for our consignment of Mega Probiotic ND to arrive; we anticipate this will be with us within the next few days, so please bear with us and all treats that include Mega Probiotic will be processed and sent when we receive our delivery. In line with company policy, we will not debit your account until the day your order is sent.
I’m going to start by telling you that on last year’s December newsletter we launched Root Cover Up by Color Wow in the UK for John Frieda and Gail Federici. In just one year, this ‘industry first’ product has revolutionized the hair colour market; we launched with four colours and now there are six colours in the range. The feedback has of course been amazing as the product was created to help disguise grey hair, which it does brilliantly. You can of course also use two or three of the colours to create your own highlights and I will give you a helping hand by taking the price down to £25 (instead of £28.50) whilst stocks last. Go, go, go ….! ** Please note this offer is now over. Sorry!
Root Cover Up by Color Wow £25 (normal price £28.50)
The Hyaluronic Acid (HA) Treat
In celebration of HA being one of our bestselling supplements of all time, we have a limited volume of travel size Hyaluronic Acid (15 capsules), worth £17.50. Most of you know that Shabir and I believe that HA is the most crucial anti-ageing supplement available, but it has to be the correct therapeutic strength to make a difference, which is why we recommend the High Strength HA. I’m not going to write reams about HA, but will refer you to Shabir’s article and whilst stocks last, if you buy HA, we will throw in the travel size as a gift. Please note this will not show up on your invoice, but will be included with your order. (Update: Due to overwhelming demand, this offer is now over – sorry)
Hyaluronic Acid High Strength £35 for 30 Vegecaps with Travel Size Gift worth £17.50 whilst stocks last; VH Editorial: Hyaluronic Acid – The Anti-Ageing Nutrient
Sage Complex Treat
On the January newsletter, I wrote about Sage Complex, so here it comes again:
I know how important it is to take Sage Complex, most especially if your hormones are hanging in the balance (and at this time of the year, I guess they are!). Sage Complex is our bestselling product to help alleviate the symptoms of menopause and with the probable appearance of those fabulous mood swings arriving, I am here to help you because Sage Complex also helps night sweats, hot flushes and vaginal dryness.
I am putting Sage Complex on a double pack special offer for the month of December, so order two bottles of Sage Complex and instead of it costing £49, the two bottles will cost £40, which means that I’ve knocked off 18% and hopefully it will knock out all menopausal symptoms too! ** Please note this offer is now over. Sorry!
Sage Complex Treat £40 (Two bottles of Sage Complex, normal price £49)
The Cold Sore Regimen
From the February newsletter:
Cold sores are a condition caused by the infection of the herpes simplex virus. Nearly all of us have this virus in our bodies and it normally remains dormant where it resides in the sensory nerve cells near the site of the infection.
The best way to both prevent and treat a cold sore is to take L-Lysine, taking one tablet twice daily on an empty stomach. Numerous studies indicate that lysine supplementation can help to speed the recovery from, and prevent recurrences of cold sores. Lysine itself has anti-viral properties, but additionally it blocks the uptake of arginine, an amino acid that promotes viral growth.
Creams are very popular in the treatment of cold sores and we are thrilled with the feedback we have received on the fabulous Lemon Balm Cream. The tannins in lemon balm have potent anti-viral and anti-microbial properties, whilst terpines in lemon balm numb the painful tissue and provide soothing properties. Simply dab the cream at the first sign of any tingling and re-apply every three or four hours.
If you experience regular cold sores, then this is often indicative of nutritional deficiencies or a weakened immune system. A strong immune system is more effective at battling against the virus replicating and may help put it back into a dormant state. To support the immune system, we recommend the use of Daily Immunity, a comprehensive blend of nutrients, probiotics and herbs that all play a varying role in strengthening our immune system.
The Treat: If you buy Daily Immunity and Lemon Balm Cream together, we will throw in the L-Lysine by Lamberts to help smash the virus! I will just mention that the Lemon Balm Cream is hand-made to order, so please bear with us if there is a slight delay. ** Please note this offer is now over. Sorry!
The Cold Sore Regimen Treat £33.50 (saving £6.08) L-Lysine by Lamberts £6.08 for 90 Tablets; Lemon Balm Cream £8.50 for 60 ml; Daily Immunity £25 for 60 Capsules
From the March newsletter:
As many of you know, I have varying missions and one of them is that I want each of you to be given the opportunity to have fabulous hair, so we have taken Superior Hair, which we believe is the very best supplement available for hair loss, thinning hair and the general health of your hair, and put it together with Clean, the brilliant shampoo from the Phylia range of products.
Together they would normally cost £54, but I’m switching the figures around, making it £45, which will give you a saving of £9. This offer will run throughout the month of December and I’m just praying that we don’t run out of stock! If you are suffering from menopausal hair loss, then check out Shabir’s article, which I hope will help you. ** Please note this offer is now over. Sorry!
Fabulous Hair £45 (Superior Hair £26 for 90 Capsules; Clean by Phylia £28 for 265 ml); VH Editorial: Addressing Menopausal Hair Loss
Also from the March newsletter:
Mega Probiotic ND
I cannot stress the importance of taking a good probiotic (actually why would anybody want to take a bad one!) and it is one of the key supplements that everybody should be taking every day.
We all know that a diet high in processed foods is detrimental to the body, one of the reasons being that high sugar and chemical laden foods destroy the beneficial bacteria in the gut. Another problem is that artificial foods may affect the DNA within our bodies, which can lead to cell mutation. Stress, antibiotics, artificial sweeteners and colours can all contribute to reducing the beneficial bacteria in the gut leading to premature ageing and illness. Additionally, probiotics can help reduce bloating significantly.
The Treat: Once again I have the cutest little bottles of Mega Probiotic lined up underneath my desk. Each bottle contains 30 capsules, which is half of the regular size and they will last two weeks. Each of these is worth £9.25 and we will pop one in with every Mega Probiotic order whilst stocks last. We do have a limited volume, so it’s going to be first come, first served and this will not show up on your invoice, we will just include it in your order. ** Please note this offer is now over. Sorry!
Mega Probiotic ND Treat £18.50 for 60 Capsules (ND stands for non-dairy)
From the April newsletter:
The market is flooded with thousands of supplements that claim to have anti-ageing properties, including a variety of marine-based extracts, countless antioxidants and several vitamins and minerals. In order to maintain healthy and radiant skin, you have to protect, nourish and help prevent damage to the cells of the skin.
In a far-reaching article, Shabir wrote an article called Nourish Your Skin and if you missed it, you can read it here. In the article, Shabir recommended three supplements that work synergistically to help nourish the skin, plump it up and help prevent the rather distasteful slide ‘south’! These are Hyaluronic Acid (HA), which as I mentioned above is the most crucial of anti-ageing supplements in our opinion, Skin Restoring Phytoceramides, which I love and adore (helps prevent the ‘prune’ effect) and Astaxanthin, which is a brilliant antioxidant. I have taken all three supplements since they were launched and together with excellent topical skincare, I owe my skin to them!
The Treat: We have put HA and Skin Restoring Phytoceramides together and then thrown in Astaxanthin as a gift to each of you. Together all three products would normally cost £77, but because I believe in these products so much, I am making it £60, which will give you a saving of £17, together with fabulous skin of course! This offer will run whilst stocks last. ** Please note this offer is now over. Sorry!
Fabulous Skin £60 (includes Hyaluronic Acid Capsules High Strength £35; Skin Restoring Phytoceramides £25 and Astaxanthin £17)
Re-Connect by Phylia
From the May newsletter and please read this carefully if you are a Phylia fan:
May marked the first anniversary of launching Phylia in the UK and as I wrote at the time, the feedback from the Three Step Kit, Clean, Condition and Connect had been phenomenal. That of course continues, demonstrated most recently by a Phylia famine where demand far exceeded the supply, which thankfully has now been resolved.
I continue to be in total awe of this brand, which I have often written is one of the most important launches we have ever done. The feedback constantly astounds me and the testimonials received from people who have suffered hair loss or thinning hair through critical illness, touch me deeply.
May saw the launch of a new product, Re-Connect. In Japanese there are two words for hair growth: ‘hatsumou’, which means to birth a new hair, and ‘ikumou’, which means to raise the new hair into a full hair fibre. Like the process of raising a child from birth to adulthood, hair must be nurtured and guided to reach its full potential. If neglected, progress can be reversed.
Re-Connect features an exclusive, hyper-concentrated version of the Phylia formula to help achieve visible hair growth and re-growth. This super serum was designed to work in tandem with the current Connect treatment and helps to activate new growth, whilst maintaining the strength of existing hairs.
While Connect serves as the ‘ikumou’ to detox the nerves, heal the skin and scalp and fortify the existing hair, Re-Connect services as the ‘hatsumou’ to stimulate the hair follicle and maintain the results of Connect. Existing hair is strengthened and invigorated, while new hair is generated where stress had caused nerve and follicle damage and resulted in hair loss.
Re-Connect should be used after using Phylia Connect for at least one month and then you should alternate between the two products each day. Before I write about the treat, just also to say that for optimum results please refrain from using any other hair products, which would also include styling products and oils as they may block the hair follicle, thereby limiting Phylia’s amazing potential.
The Phylia Treat: The first 200 people to buy the Three Step Kit (Clean, Condition and Connect) will receive Re-Connect (worth £60) as a gift from me and Kazu Namise (creator of Phylia de M) to you. We know that these are going to fly out the door, so you will need to be fast. As ever, a personal thank you from me to Kazu for trusting and believing in VH and for the amazing support she has given to so many of you on a one-on-one basis. It matters. ** Please note this offer is now over. Sorry!
The Three Step Kit Treat £103 (includes Clean £28; Condition £30; Connect £45 and Re-Connect £60)
Also on the May newsletter:
Billion Dollar Brows – Brow Boost
I am going to start this section by telling you that Brow Boost is prostaglandin free, which is really important. If you read this newsletter regularly, you will know that I have had several rants about products that contain prostaglandin, which are mostly eyelash growth serums. Just in case you missed it, I urge you to read an article (click here) recently published in YOU magazine by Sarah Stacey, who is of course their Health Editor.
Having said that, Brow Boost is a vitamin and protein enriched conditioner, which works to help condition your brows for a fuller, thicker and healthier appearance. All you need do is apply Brow Boost to your brow line nightly and in trials, most people began to see results within 30 days of use. This formulation is fragrance free and the key ingredient is Pelvetia Canaliculata, a form of seaweed, rich in antioxidants.
The Brow Boost Treat: The first 100 people to buy Brow Boost will receive the Billion Dollar Brow Duo Pencil free, which is worth £20. It’s a bit of a secret weapon and in America they call it the ‘magic marker’ because of the way the Duo Highlighter illuminates and creates eye-catching brows. Watch your brows ‘pop’ as you glide the highlighter end of the pencil over your brow bone, directly under your eyebrow for maximum definition. As an added bonus, there is a universal concealer on the opposite end of the pencil. We like! ** Sorry, The Brow Boost Treat is sold out.
The Brow Boost Treat £25 (includes the Brow Duo Pencil worth £20)
Selexir Peace Balm
From the June newsletter:
Continuing on our quest for extraordinary products, we launched Peace Balm in June, which of course went on to win an award in the Harper’s Bazaar Hot 100 for being the best SOS cream. Bringing peace for unhappy skin, Peace Balm is a replenishing skincare product, researched and developed in Switzerland. It particularly caters to the needs of extremely dry, sensitive and irritated skin and can also be used as a treatment for mild to moderate eczema and rosacea.
The Peace Balm story began with one woman’s quest to pursue a path of discovery after she suddenly experienced problems with her own skin, which included extreme redness and irritation. That woman is Elena Herdieckerhoff and I interviewed her for the ‘Gill Meets’ series, which you can read here.
Although we only launched in June, Peace Balm has become one of our bestselling products, the feedback has been amazing and it has rescued me almost instantaneously a couple of times when my own eczema has flared up. Result-driven skincare is paramount and this product works, so here comes the treat and just to say a big thank you from me to Elena for supporting us unconditionally and for being so incredibly inspirational.
One month after launching Peace Balm, I wrote about Selexir Peace Bath (Instant Serenity Bath Salts). Loaded with magnesium chloride (so relaxing), black cumin seed extract and blackcurrant leaf extract, I fell in love with this product the first time I used it and I’ve become addicted, which is why our stock checks never tally (poor Shabir!) because I make sure I am adequately stocked in my bathroom. You only need to use a small amount in each bath, but whilst you bathe away stress, the added benefit is that you can also soak away unhappy skin because the salts help relieve itchiness and mild eczema and psoriasis.
The Selexir Peace Treat: If you buy Peace Balm (in either size) or the Peace Bath, we will include a special travel size Peace Balm, which is worth £20. This is a limited offer and once again you will need to be fast because once they are gone, they are gone. I think the thing I like most about this treat is that you can gift the travel size to anybody who has unhappy skin and they will probably love you forever. This will not show up on your invoice, but we will automatically include the travel size Peace Balm whilst stocks last. We will indicate on our site when the offer is over. ** Please note this offer is now over. Sorry!
Selexir Peace Balm £39 for 30 ml; Peace Balm £99 for 75 ml; Peace Bath – Instant Serenity Bath Salts £29 for 300 grams
We are halfway through the year, so I thought I would leap onto The Podium just to say a few things. The first thing to do is to thank each and every one of you for your incredible support and loyalty throughout the year. If anything I become more passionate about the work that we do with each passing year and making a positive difference to each of your lives really matters to me.
Being a retrospective, this newsletter has highlighted some of the products we have launched this year and it is at this point that I would like to acknowledge the ongoing research and development of pioneering and cutting-edge health and beauty products. We know it is a virtual mine-field out there and our role is to recommend the very best products in each category.
We remain totally unbiased in our approach and we are not swayed by hype, we know the ingredients that work and we know the ingredients that will make little or no difference. It is a fact that not all products are created equally and this applies to both the therapeutic doses of supplements and the level of active ingredients in skincare. A clinical is only a clinical if it is carried out on the entire formulation in the case of skincare and this particularly applies to high-end skincare.
New research is a constant and it is our responsibility to keep you updated; this can often mean that we will change a recommended product in the case of supplementation, which doesn’t make us massively popular with manufacturers, but optimum results are key. In the case of topical skincare, we will only ever introduce new skincare brands if they conform to our strict testing procedures, which include performance related exercises.
I continue to love supporting niche brands and this is where my passion peaks as it is a constant learning curve and a journey I feel privileged to be on. We are also so fortunate to be featured in the national press on a very regular basis and my thanks must also go to the many health and beauty journalists who continue to support us and write about our products.
So as we move forward to the second half of the year, I want to dedicate this newsletter to each of you and to say that nothing gives us a greater kick than sharing and giving back to you wherever we can.
From the July newsletter:
I love it when a newsletter flows, so after my comments above, we launched a ‘next-generation’ energizing supplement, aptly called Daily Energy on the July newsletter and it was ‘all change’.
Daily Energy is a multi-herb and nutrient formulation that helps boost physical and mental energy, helps prevent mid-afternoon slump and abates the effect of both physical and emotive stress, without the use of caffeine or artificial stimulants. A combination of ginsengs and nutrients reinforces the body’s natural defences, while supporting the body’s own ability to demonstrate improved vitality and endurance. Black Pepper Root and Dimethylglycine deliver vital energizing oxygen and nutrients to all the tissues of the body, helping to sustain energy throughout the day.
The Daily Energy Treat: I guess we would all like to be supersonically charged at this time of year, so here is the treat. I have created a Daily Energy twin pack, which is £40, instead of £50, so you save £10. This is a limited offer and will only be available whilst stocks last. ** Please note this offer is now over. Sorry!
The Daily Energy Treat £40 (2 x Daily Energy); Daily Energy £25 for 60 Capsules
From the August newsletter:
Most of us don’t realise it, but many of us suffer from adrenal stress and it remains virtually ‘un-tagged’ as a health concern. Although it is often linked to menopausal symptoms, adrenal stress (or adrenal fatigue) can also arise during or after acute or chronic infections and as the name suggests, its paramount symptom is fatigue that is not relieved by sleep.
This syndrome has been known by many other names throughout the past century, such as non-Addison’s hypoadrenia, sub-clinical hypoadrenia, adrenal apathy and adrenal exhaustion. If you feel tired all the time, sweat excessively or wake up and cannot get back to sleep, you may be suffering from adrenal stress. Other symptoms include a craving for sweet and salty snacks (sounds familiar!) and feeling generally run-down and overwhelmed.
The adrenal glands sit atop the kidneys and pump out the hormones, including adrenaline and cortisol, which help keep you on your feet throughout the day. At times of stress, whether physical, hormonal or environmental, these glands can no longer secrete normal levels of any of these hormones and often over-secrete cortisol. Mood swings, symptoms of stress and anxiety, sleep disturbances, emotional stress and lower immunity are just some of the concerns associated with higher than normal levels of cortisol, so this is not a hormone you want circulating in abundance.
Reducing stress levels is of course paramount and we recommend Magnolia Rhodiola Complex, our bestselling supplement for helping to relieve the symptoms of anxiety and stress. Magnolia extracts have been shown to physically relax muscles and nerves as well as helping to reduce the levels of stress hormones in the body, which is of course key in helping to combat stress. Please click here to read Shabir’s article on how to combat stress effectively.
One more thing to add; at times of stress, the adrenals place a huge demand for the water soluble B and C vitamins. Both of these vitamins are required for the manufacture of anti-stress hormones and a deficiency can often result in greater amounts of cortisol production.
Additionally, vitamins B and C have been shown to directly affect the neurotransmitters in the brain, including serotonin and dopamine, which are the nerve calming and mood elevating hormones. Evidence suggests that both these vitamins achieve balance in the body by metabolizing chemicals known to cause anxiety and depression. Since both of these vitamins are water soluble, they are not retained in the bloodstream for any length of time, making supplementation vital during times of stress.
The Adrenal Stress Treat: We have a limited volume of Terra Nova’s Vitamin B Complex with Vitamin C and on a first come, first served basis, we will throw this in with every Magnolia Rhodiola Complex ordered, whilst stocks last. This product is worth £9.50, so if you are concerned about adrenal stress, then we would recommend you take it alongside Magnolia Rhodiola on an ongoing basis. Once again this will not show up on your invoice, but we will include the Vitamin B Complex with Vitamin C in with your order and will indicate on our site when the offer is over. ** Please note this offer is now over. Sorry!
Magnolia Rhodiola Complex £26 for 60 Capsules; Vitamin B Complex with Vitamin C £9.50 for 50 Capsules
Banana Balm by Lanolips
From the September newsletter:
Banana Balm is described by Lanolips founder, Kirsten Carriol, as ‘happiness in a tube’ and it is a 3-in-1 luxuriously creamy lip balm, that combines the Lanolips signature ultra-moisturising, Ultra-Pure Grade lanolin with 100% natural banana extract and shimmer to create a fabulously creamy lip lustre with a long-lasting lip protectant.
I am not going to replicate everything I wrote on the newsletter, but just to say that I adore this product and have used it every day since it launched. Both Kirsten and I both line and pencil in our lips with Spice from MAC (absolute coincidence, we didn’t confer!) and then gloss them with Banana Balm. I said at the time that it was my new ‘Autumn Look; but it may well be a ‘forever’ look and actually I will now confirm that it is.
The Lanolips Treat: I remain immensely proud that we launched Lanolips in the UK in 2010 and that the brand has gone from success to success, picking up many awards along the way. In celebration, the first 100 people to buy any two Lanolips products will automatically receive the cult Lanolips 101 as a gift, which is worth £11. This will not show up on your invoice, but we will automatically include 101 with your order. Think you may need to be quick for this one too, so check out all the Lanolips products below.
Lanolips (Buy Any Two Lanolips products and receive Lanolips 101 free – worth £11)
Also on the September newsletter, I wrote about some of our recent press coverage and because it may be of particular interest at this time of year, I am including Sarah Vine’s recommendation for Milk Thistle Liver Cleanse in The Saturday Times magazine (although she now writes for the Daily Mail):
‘If you find yourself accidentally over-indulging on the wine (and let’s face it, we’ve all done it) a course of Milk Thistle will have you waking up as bright-eyed and bushy tailed as a toddler. I absolutely swear by this stuff’.
Milk Thistle Liver Cleanse £23.50 for 60 Tablets
The Dermasuri – The Once-a-Fortnight Secret to Soft Skin
From the October newsletter:
I was introduced to this product by Kazu Namise, creator of Phylia and my LA spy, who was going crazy for it and subsequently I went crazy for it too and since that time your feedback has been pretty incredible.
In a nutshell, The Dermasuri is a skin buffing mitt that literally grabs and sloughs away flaky dead cells from the skin’s surface and rolls it off. Only the cells that are ready to be removed are buffed away to reveal fresh, young, healthier skin underneath, that skin is then perfectly primed to absorb any body lotion that you apply afterwards – wait, the treat is coming!
The Dermasuri also helps to reduce ingrown hairs, bumps and clogged pores, helps poor circulation, helps even out skin tone and banishes dullness. The amount of exfoliation depends on your skin type; some may exfoliate microscopically, whereas others will visibly see dead skin rolling away, which is rather exciting.
Aside from the fact that I think everybody should have The Dermasuri, which incidentally you should only use once a fortnight, it would make a rather brilliant Christmas gift too, so I decided to re-create Fabulous Legs, as below, although of course it’s not just restricted to your legs, but I can’t have two treats called ‘Fabulous Skin’, there will be mayhem, so Fabulous Legs it is:
Fabulous Legs: The first 200 people to buy The Dermasuri will automatically receive a bottle of Miracle Lotion, worth £15, absolutely free. As many of you know, Miracle Lotion is one of our long-standing cult products, the packaging is beyond dreadful, but the product is completely outstanding and it is the body lotion secret of many beauty editors. It just works, banishing dry skin into oblivion. This will not show up on your invoice, it will automatically be included with The Dermasuri, whilst stocks last. ** Please note this offer is now over. Sorry!
Fabulous Legs £19.95 (The Dermasuri Deep Exfoliating Mitt £19.95; Miracle Lotion £15 for 237 ml)
Also on the October newsletter, I wrote about the Harper’s Bazaar Hot 100 Awards, and that Fulphyl by Phylia won the much coveted ‘Best Health and Beauty Supplement’ award. I’m still smiling and so is Kazu. Take it if you can and please remember that not all Fulvic Acids are equal; we knew the market would explode with Fulvic Acids, but they just don’t cut it. I’m not saying another word, because it could turn into a rant and at this stage of the newsletter I think we can all live without that!
Fulphyl by Phylia £160 for 360 ml; VH Editorial: Fulvic Acid – The Elixir of Life
The November Newsletter
We have reached November, last month’s newsletter, so I’ll begin where I started at the top of this newsletter as we launched Julisis on the November newsletter. Because I have already written about Julisis, I am not going to add anything other than to say that a VH Addict sent me an email suggesting that I should marry Julius Eulberg if it meant that we could have the extraordinary perfume he is creating this side of Christmas. Just to say that neither is an option (ahem ….!) but I have smothered myself with one of the perfumes and it is divine.
So let’s update on a couple of things. The new updated Anti-Ageing Beauty Bible was officially launched in YOU magazine on the 10 November and it has gone wild. The reader offer accompanying the launch was gone early on the Sunday evening, but if you read the article you will know that with every book sold we were gifting the Beauty Bible Lip Balm, worth £6. On the article it said that this offer would run until 30 November, but I’m extending the offer, so if you buy The Anti-Ageing Beauty Bible before midnight on 15 December, we will send you the lip balm free.
The Anti-Ageing Beauty Bible £12.95 (RRP £15.99)
We also launched Effervescent Vitamin C – Magnesium Crystals for constipation on the November newsletter. If you missed what I wrote about it then please click here, but just to say that Shabir is still talking about it, I described it as the closest thing to having colonic irrigation without having to go anywhere, it all went a bit bonkers and the feedback (I will spare you the detail) has been absolutely incredible. I’m thinking that it could be a pretty useful product to use after stuffing our faces with turkey and mince pies and I’ll leave it at that!
Effervescent Vitamin C – Magnesium Crystals £19 for 180 grams
This month, Jo Fairley writes about ‘The Morning after the Night Before’, Catherine Turner ‘Searches for Stillness’ (which sounds rather wonderful to me) and Sally Brampton writes about ‘Gratitude’. Additionally the Beauty Bible girls reveal Ten Quick Beauty Fixes, so I hope you enjoy this month’s articles.
The Final Bit
I’m going to end this newsletter with two treats, the first of which was our most-wanted Pop-Up – Absolute Fundamentals. Shabir created this because he believes everybody should take these three products for overall health and wellbeing:
Power of Krill: The most utilizable and cleanest source of omega 3 fatty acids. Numerous studies indicate that omega 3 fatty acids help to inhibit inflammation in the body and may be of benefit for a variety of inflammatory conditions, including joint pain and gastro-intestinal disorders. Omega 3 fatty acids are also required for hormone production, colon cleansing and for the transport of fat soluble nutrients into cells.
Power of Krill £24.95 for 60 Softgels
Mega Probiotic ND: Yes again; Shabir takes it too and that’s all I’m going to say here.
Mega Probiotic ND £18.50 for 60 Capsules
My Favorite Multiple Energizer: This supplement contains 100% of the recommended daily amounts of all the essential vitamins and minerals in a highly energizing food base for maximum absorption and utilization by the body.
My Favorite Multiple Energizer £16.50 for 60 Tablets
We have put Power of Krill and Mega Probiotic together and thrown in My Favorite Multiple Energizer as a gift, which is worth £16.50. We will run Absolute Fundamentals whilst stocks last. ** Please note this offer is now over. Sorry!
Absolute Fundamentals £43.45
I am now going to do something completely bonkers. The VH team are absolutely going to kill me for this one, but the first 100 customers to either call our Customer Care team on 020 8951 4144 or mail us at firstname.lastname@example.org and say/write ‘I want to be an Addict’ will receive one year’s free membership, which is worth £30. Our Addicts receive VIP treatment, 10% discount on most brands (there are a few exceptions) and other benefits that you can read about here. This offer is only open to those of you who have never been a VH Addict and it cannot be used to renew existing membership. ** This offer is now over, sorry!
I’m going to hide under my desk, preferably with a glass of champagne, whilst all this is happening, but I will emerge at some stage to change ‘Breaking News’ on the front of our site with an update.
All that remains is for me to wish you all a very Happy Christmas and a healthy New Year. I see little point in releasing the January newsletter until most of us are back from the New Year break and at this point heaven only knows what I am going to write about, so I’m praying that a ‘writing angel’ will appear in front of me!
