Well here we are again, another Saturday morning and perhaps the Weekend Read has become a marker in as much as the vast majority of us don’t know what day it is. Look, all I know is that in an abnormal world, it’s all we can do to put some structure around ourselves. I think it has become a given that each week I write about new products, treats and gifts if I can. So not wanting that Saturday structure to fall over (unlike Shabir who falls over every single time he reads these missives), today we have a new product launch (well one launch, three products), a skincare supplement treat and two gifts, of which one is limited. Off we go:
Let’s begin with the new launch, it’s a skincare launch and it’s from Derma E. You knew this was coming because I wrote a couple of weeks ago that there were several new launches from Derma E that I wanted to tell you about. So what are the three products that have got us excited. They are mood enhancing skin beneficial mists. Each of the three, Calm, Uplift and Create, contain a balanced blend of therapeutic, skin benefiting essential oils that have been combined with purified Spring Water, Witch Hazel and Coconut Essence. And each has its own unique blend of essential oils combined with either citrus, herbal or aromatic waters. They have been formulated to use both on your face and body, so in effect you become the embodiment of a chosen mood.
Delving a bit deeper, Calm is a comfort blend embracing oils of Lemon, Eucalyptus, Sage and Rosemary and the adaptogens Alma and Gotu Kola, which help bring a sense of relaxation. Uplift combines oils of Orange, Grapefruit, Chamomile and Lavender blended with Eleuthero and Artic Root targeting fatigue and anxiety. Create has a blend of Rosemary, Ginger and Spearmint oils formulated with Cordyceps and Cardamom to help promote focused thoughts and clarity, allowing you the freedom to create. I am writing this in a haze of Create. Lest I start day-dreaming. A habit.
I think these are very clever. I also think they are of our time. This time. I have all three, but of course I do, I have been on a heavy testing mission. The thing is that I quite like the fact that I can choose a different mood each day. And if you need to know, I have sprayed Calm all around me as you are reading this. Most especially after last Saturday when Shabir had to do an emergency order for the Vitamin C Bright Eyes Hydro Gel Patches halfway through the day. I said I was going to blame him if that happened. It happened. Perhaps he should spray himself with Uplift. He could be having another anxious moment anytime soon. Like in half an hour. Let’s spritz together. Let’s dance together. Shabir hates dancing. Most especially with me. His social distancing loss.
CALM Mood Enhancing Skin Beneficial Mist £18 for 30 ml; UPLIFT Mood Enhancing Skin Beneficial Mist £18 for 30 ml; CREATE Mood Enhancing Skin Beneficial Mist £18 for 30 ml; Vitamin C Bright Eyes Hydro Gel Patches by Derma E £20 For 60 Gel Patches
Treat Time. Skin, like any other organ in the body, ages over a period of time. In order to understand the ageing of skin, we need to look at the outermost layer, the stratum corneum and Shabir does this in detail in his article which I’ve linked below. Essentially, in our youth the outer layers of skin are replaced approximately every 40 days, but by the time we reach our 50s, for instance, it takes roughly 50% longer to replace those outer layers, which results in the loss of moisture, affecting the deeper layers of our skin where collagen and elastin production occur. In the early 1990s, several leading cosmetic companies began marketing ceramide-based topical skincare products for helping to treat fine lines, wrinkles and dryness. However, these topicals cannot compare to taking a supplement to help boost ceramide production. Start waving to Skin Restoring Ceramides.
Several years ago scientists explored the potential of wheat-derived ceramides for use as a skin moisturiser that could be taken orally. Studies indicated that the ceramides in this wheat-extract reached the outer cell layer from the bloodstream, significantly improving skin moisture levels and helping to reduce dry, ageing skin. In his article, Beauty Supplements To Boost Your Skin, Shabir also refers to the power of antioxidants. Antioxidants help protect the skin from unstable damaging molecules known as free radicals. He recommends the potent super-antioxidant, Astaxanthin with Phospholipids.
I think most of you can guess what’s coming next. And you would be right. With every order for Skin Restoring Ceramides, we will throw in the very fabulous Astaxanthin with Phospholipids as a gift. This is worth £14 and it is a weekend only offer, ending at midnight GMT tomorrow (Sunday 7 June), or whilst stock lasts. Please use the Fabulous Skin Treat link below to receive your gift. Please read the article too. You also need to know that I refuse to resemble a dried-up old prune. Even if I live to 95. Keyboard time. Again.

Do your worst Hay Fever. And it is. Heaven only knows, but on top of everything else, Hay Fever is so virulent at the moment. It is knocking Shabir sideways as it is with so many of you. So our top three recommendations to help alleviate the symptoms of Hay Fever are Aller-DMG, A Vogel’s Eye Drops and Sinol D. A quick run-through. Aller-DMG has been our bestselling supplement for several years; it is totally brilliant for helping to diminish all allergies, including Hay Fever. A Vogel Eye Drops help relieve dry, tired and irritated eyes and the extraordinary Sinol D is a natural nasal decongestant spray which helps relieve congestion, headaches and sinus pain.
A caveat, as ever. We only have a small amount of Aller-DMG in stock. I know we are going to go into wait list territory. We (make that Shabir) will adjust our website when we have sold through. I’m sorry. Raw ingredient shortages are still prevalent, but I am being told we will have another delivery around the third week of June. I’m praying that’s correct.
Aller-DMG £20 for 60 Tablets; A Vogel’s Eye Drops £9.99 for 10 ml; Sinol D All-Natural Nasal Spray Decongestant £14.95 for 15 ml
For the love of a tin. Round two. Last week I wrote about Zam-Buk Antiseptic Ointment. I wrote that I loved the tin and I also wrote that I had bought up all remaining stock because they were changing the tin. So let me tell about my love of another tin. It’s a pretty little tin. And I think you may want one or two of these because I’ve decided that tins are rather heroic. Rose Petal Salve has a multitude of different uses. It can be a lip gloss, a cheekbone enhancer, an eye brow tamer and it can also be a calming sleep salve; it’s pretty useful for insect bites and blisters too. Something wonderful about the word ‘salve’. It’s all kind of old-fashioned and evocative. I love it for that. Actually I just love it anyway. I think you will too. So very cute.
Rose Petal Salve £3.99 for 20 grams
If I may, I would just like to take a moment to tell you about Sarah’s latest article for her Health Notes section. Sarah’s brother, Simon, died recently, not from Covid-19, but from cancer and Parkinson’s disease. We, the collective we, have always thought that writing is so incredibly cathartic, and Sarah has done just that. She writes about her feelings and some things that have helped her, so in turn we hope they may help you too if, sadly, you have suffered a recent loss. At this time I am also taking the liberty of referring you once again to another article which I shared at the very beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, The Goose Formation. Because it matters. Thank you.

On the beauty front, the focus has been on our naked nails and home pedicures. In fact I think in one way or another I manage to write about this every week. So I will continue by telling you that if you buy any products worth £15 or above from the entire Margaret Dabbs range, we will automatically include her brilliant Fabulous Feet Foot Wipes, worth £12, as a gift. These foot wipes have been formulated to cleanse and refresh tired, hot and perspiring feet and they are infused with cooling and antibacterial extracts of Witch Hazel, Apple and Willow Bark. Jo (Fairley) swears by the Japanese ritual of washing her feet every night before she goes to bed and so do I; these make it easy. Anyway, anyway, there are twenty wipes in each pack, we only have a limited volume and once this offer is over, it is over. This will not show up on your order confirmation, but we will include it anyway if you qualify. I promise.

Shabir believes that there are approximately six million prescriptions for iron tablets issued each year, which doesn’t surprise him because iron is essential to life. It plays a key role in the manufacture of proteins and enzymes, it is required for the formation of haemoglobin, which is the oxygen carrier within the body, and iron regulates cell health. He also believes that iron and life are inseparable and that with the exception of lactic acid bacteria found in the gut, every living organism requires iron as an essential nutrient for growth and development.
In his article, Iron Tablets – Who Needs Them, Shabir does an in-depth on the health benefits of iron, the symptoms, the recommended daily intake and why he recommends Iron Daily Oral Spray. In a nutshell this is because many prescribed or over-the-counter iron pills and supplements often have side effects which can include stomach pain, bloating and constipation, whereas oral supplementation by-passes the digestive system avoiding stomach pain and gastric distress. I also need to add that men are rarely deficient in iron. I see. Nothing to add.

If you have followed us for a long time, you will know that I often write about the death of a product. So I’m about to do it again. Whenever this happens I often fail to understand why certain products end up in product heaven, but they do. Several weeks ago I wrote about the Saltpipe. I felt it was relevant because it was created for those suffering from breathing difficulties and respiratory disorders, including asthma and hay fever. I also wrote that a few minutes of regular daily use would help you breathe more easily and that it would also cleanse the respiratory system. So what happened. We sold out. We had a huge wait list. The manufacturers informed us that further stock would arrive. Except it didn’t. And now its been discontinued.
Thankfully, some sixth-sense kicked in and we did our research prior to receiving this news. So please let me tell you that we are now recommending The Cisca Saltpipe. It is important to note that it is also ceramic, the crystal salt inside the pipe lasts up to five years, based on daily usage, and it has a CE Medical Registration. It also happens to be in stock. And I still don’t get why a bestselling product was discontinued. But then I don’t understand many things. The list is long.
The Cisca Saltpipe £29.95
Time for another treat. And as Shabir sighs (I have profound hearing) I am here to tell you that with every order placed over the weekend for £15 and above, you will automatically receive a 24K Gold Hand Mask in your order. It is infused with plant extracts, rose and Vitamin E and uses warming thermotherapy technology to help rejuvenate hands. Each packet contains a single pair of serum-rich, dual layered gloves which can be used up to three times. I think we have enough to cover all weekend orders, but you will need to be fast. There is only one gift per customer and this will not show up on your order confirmation. Take it as a given that it will be included. Gold gloves. Goldfinger. Sing that song. With me.
The lymphatic system is the home of the immune system. Certainly on the health front, optimum immunity has been the single most important concern over the recent past and will continue to maintain that importance throughout this year, if not forever. The lymphatic system is a network of vessels, glands, the spleen, the thymus gland and tonsils, which carry a clear fluid called lymph. Lymph’s composition is similar to blood, except that it does not contain haemoglobin nor any blood proteins. The lymphatic system consists of organs, ducts and lymph nodes which act as filters for the removal of toxins. It is a detox system, a nutrient delivery system and without this system, we could not exist.
So two things here. We recommend cleansing the lymphatic system two to three times a year. Now would be good. To do this we recommend Cleavers, a supplement that stimulates the activity of the lymphatic system and organs to help them return to optimal efficiency. In other words, a body cleanse. Secondly, many of you have Sarah’s Chapman’s Bodylift, which is brilliant in helping encourage the lymphatic system to drain toxins and reduce puffiness from the body. It helps sculpt the body too. Sculpt me Bodylift. Please.
VH Editorial: The Lymphatic System; Cleavers by Viridian Nutrition £16.65 for 90 Capsules; The Bodylift by Sarah Chapman £32
Just a few final updates from me. This past week we have received several large deliveries, which has meant we have been able to conquer many wait lists, some of them going back to March, if you can believe. In my dreams I wish I could wave a magic wand and clear all of them, but I can’t. It remains of the utmost importance that we clear these lists before anything else, so that is what we have done. The knock-on effect has meant that we are slightly behind on our daily orders, so for that I’m sorry, but my heart beats on. I think.
This week, Jo Fairley writes about ‘The Great Pause’, where she takes a look at the experience of lockdown, which is something we hope we will never have to go through again in our lifetimes. In her article, Today Is The First Day Of the Rest Of Your Life, Jo takes a positive look at the challenges that will inevitably come before each of us. I hope you enjoy the read.

Finally, and as ever with Shabir, Lara and the VH Team, I wish each of you a peaceful weekend.
And coming soon, perhaps next week, a new brand launch which I’m doing with somebody I love, respect and adore.
Be safe. Be well.
