Weekend Read

Weekend Read

Can we share something please. Since I began writing weekly, I have thrown my priority on loving and laughing.  Given there are times when all around seems so very dark, I would like to think that for a space of time we can momentarily take ourselves to another reality.  That reality is perhaps the time that we spend with each other as you read (thank you, thank you) these words.  Anyway, in full transparency, you need to know that I sing when I write.  Some of you will have probably guessed that because I often reference certain songs whilst scribing.

Being a child of the sixties, I will tell you that I have been singing ‘I Just Don’t Know What To Do With Myself’ (Dusty Springfield) which you can sing with me when we get to the Fulvic Acid Nail Cream paragraph. But more than that, I was also the child who stood in front of a full-length mirror, clutching a hairbrush (my substitute microphone) singing ‘Anyone Who Had A Heart’ by Cilla Black.  Actually I’m still singing it.  Without the hairbrush, but in the overall theme of who and what we are. Together. Today.

And as I welcome you to another Weekend Read, my beating heart had a rush of excitement when we received a rather large delivery of Mega Probiotic ND.  Mega P is our bestselling probiotic and because of the importance of taking probiotics, no matter what, it is of course always in the top five of our bestselling supplements. At this point, I am not too sure about the rhythm of Shabir’s heart, but just to say I sincerely hope it doesn’t stop beating when he reads this.  He has articles to write and products to formulate for me. The list is long.

But back to it and having self-resolved my dilemma last weekend about stock levels and wait lists, I have now decided that your health and wellbeing comes way ahead of the wrath I will inevitably experience if we go out of stock of Mega P earlier than expected. Of course there are still massive raw ingredient and manufacturing issues across most things, but I have to dream the optimistic dream that you will be gentle with me if all goes upside down and inside out. Which it could. Easily.

So taking it as it comes, do read Shabir’s article, linked below, and for one day only, which would be today (Saturday 22 August), I have created the Mega Probiotic ND Twin Pack for £30, which means you save £9. This offer ends at midnight BST tonight, or whilst stock lasts. It will need to.

Dove-tailing in on raw ingredient and manufacturing issues, we have just been informed that Insozia will not be available for at least six months.  None of this surprises me and we will of course continue to recommend alternative products, which we believe are best-in-class, of available supplementation.  Given that so many of you take Insozia for sleep issues, we are now changing everybody over to Herbal Sleep PM.  Sleep deprivation has always been a huge concern, but understandably, it is on the increase.  Stress related.

Herbal Sleep PM is loaded with Lemon Balm, Honokiol from Magnolia bark and the Chamomile compound, Apigenin, to help calm the mind and induce sleep.  It has been specifically formulated so that you don’t wake up feeling groggy and actually, if you feel so inclined, I would recommend that you have a warm magnesium bath before going to bed and perhaps anoint yourself with Settle, which is part of the Sleep Series created by Annee de Mamiel.  And so to sleep.

A common health concern moment. If you want to know what causes constipation, then Shabir gives a full explanation in another one of his archived articles.  So many people suffer from constipation, yet it can be easily remedied with some simple dietary changes and supplementation. You really shouldn’t need to rely on laxatives or drugs for resolution because they may have some side effects.

So it’s over to Shabir, but a word from me first.  He references Gentian Angelica Bitters in his article, but unfortunately this is another one of those Covid-casualty products and it will be out of stock for the long-term future and perhaps beyond that.  Thankfully it is not a primary supplement, although it is missed.  Of course.

There are two rather interesting new products to tell you about.  I am forever in awe of ongoing research and development and these two products are no exception to that way of thinking.  The first is Gluten Shield.  Avoiding gluten is really difficult and even if you a follow a gluten-free diet, it is thought that you may still consume an element of gluten daily.  This can lead to severe discomfort if you suffer from non-coeliac gluten sensitivity.

Gluten Shield has been formulated to help break down residual gluten and in clinical studies is has been shown to break down proline-rich gluten epitodes providing much needed relief from sensitivity symptoms.  A Shabir approved supplement and solution.  As is the next.
Gluten Shield £12.98 by One Nutrition for 30 Mini-Tablets

Lacto Shield is a unique dietary enzyme that gives lactose intolerant people the freedom to enjoy dairy products such as milk, yogurt and ice-cream.  It works at a low pH (3.5-5.5), which is effective for digesting lactose in the stomach.  It needs to be said that this is not an all-time-every-day wonder supplement if you are lactose intolerant, but by taking 1-2 tablets at the start of a meal containing lactose you can have a bit of flexibility and fun.  Once or twice a week.  Raspberry Ripple.  Maybe.

And so please start singing. With me.  Because I just don’t know what to do with myself.  About Fulvic Acid Nail Cream.  Whenever I write about Fulvic Nail I get inundated with emails about it.  And last week was no exception.  Given that it has rejuvenated our nails to some former glory that most of us haven’t seen for decades, it is gathering pace as ‘the’ fungal nail cream and now I am being told that it helps clear eczema on fingers.  So if it does it for fingers, it will do it for toes and perhaps other places too.  In moderation.  But more.  Many of you have asked if we (well Shabir) can formulate a foot cream.  We actually don’t need to because Fulvic Nail does it all.

And as I pondered on the above, I thought we should splurge.  And have a decadent moment.  By creating the Fulvic Acid Nail Cream Twin Pack (and saving £4) it allows you to continue using it as is, but may I suggest that you use the second tube on your feet.  Half a tube per foot.  There is one caveat to this.  It is not only raw ingredients that are being affected by the ongoing pandemic, but packaging too.  In a major way.  So if we manage to run out of tubes, which is highly likely after this, I will get the cream dolloped into small pots and stick a hand-written label on it if I have to.  Pragmatism dictates.  This is a Saturday only offer ending at midnight BST tonight.  More singing.  Soon.

Serendipity. I had written the first few paragraphs of this missive when Shabir sent me over an article he had just written.  I am not sure whether he has suddenly developed some psychic ability and sensed what I had written in my third paragraph, but I’m not questioning it. And neither am I going to question that the subject matter is ‘Vitamins To Take In Your 60s And Beyond’. I have always believed that certain things are ‘written’ in life. And as the sixties theme continues, it needs to be said that Shabir is a child of the sixties too.  Except I’m two years older than him.  This does not qualify him to be my toy-boy-partner. A zero would need to be added. Time to stop.
Vitamins To Take In Your 60s And Beyond

If I may, I would just like to pull out a new product Shabir has mentioned in the above article.  It is called Clean Lean Protein and it is available in several flavours.  Clean Lean Protein provides the body building blocks for vitality, repair, recovery and muscle growth.  This unique pea protein formula is 100% plant-based, low in allergens and extremely low in carbohydrates.  It comes complete with nine essential amino acids and is a natural source of iron.

Protein is an essential nutrient required by every cell in the body and protein requirements increase as you age due to many factors, including a decline in skeletal muscle.  Light on the stomach and easy to digest, this is the protein that will not cause bloating and digestive upset, which is so commonly associated with other types of protein supplementation.  As it is doubtful that any of us get enough protein from our diets (please refer to Shabir’s article for estimated amounts), this product is the result of a twenty-year search for a premium plant-based protein powder, which we are happy to write about.  It partners with Kids Good Stuff which I wrote about last week.  We get there.  In the end.

Gastric distress is another very common health concern.  Gastritis is the inflammation of the lining of the stomach and there are many causes which include stress, excessive alcohol consumption, prolonged use of NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs), which has been all over the news recently and certain auto-immune diseases.  However, one of the most common causes of gastritis is an infection by the organism Helicobacter pylori.  Shabir does the lowdown.

A new product from Margaret Dabbs.  And perhaps it could be used as a prelude to Fulvic Acid Nail Cream.  It is called Foot Cooling and Cleansing Spray and as the name suggests it is a refreshing, cooling and deodorising foot spray which helps to relieve the feeling of tired, hot, puffy and aching feet with just one spritz.  Loaded with Elderflower, Witch Hazel, Fireweed, Apple and Lemon Myrtle, it needs to be said that I’m rather taken with this.

Time for the Saturday only treat.  Except all the treats are ‘Saturday only’ this week and end at midnight BST.  So with every order placed today (Saturday 22 August) for £25 and over (excluding p&p) we will automatically send you a packet of Radiance: Hibiscus, Rosehip & Aloe Vera Organic Super-Tea by Aduna.  We are extremely impressed with Aduna’s teas.  So just to say that this will not show up on your order confirmation or invoice.  It will just be there.  In your order.  Sip.

The one liners.  KSM-66 Ashwagandha (generically) is the world’s bestselling Ashwagandha.  Ross J Barr’s Healing Patches are now officially legendary.  I said so.  Well on the way to becoming legendary in the UK is It’s A Ten’s Miracle Leave-In Conditioner and Mrs White’s Unstung Hero is still on a wait list.  France is still resting.  Apparently.
KSM-66 Ashwagandha Plus by Wild Nutrition £20.50 for 60 Capsules; Healing Patches by Ross J. Barr £15 for Five Patches; It’s A TenMrs White’s Unstung Hero Mosquito Repellent £20 for 250 ml

Welcome to my washbag, writes Inge van Lotringen as she thinks about going on holiday.  Read through Inge’s must-take products, which, she says, have more or less stayed the same over the past ten years.  With one or two notable new exceptions.  Discover what they are.  Meanwhile my washbag remains empty and untouched.  I’m here for the interim.  It would seem.  Not bothered.
Welcome To My Washbag by Ingeborg van Lotringen

Let’s end on a song. A theme tune. Perhaps:

‘Thinking young and growing older is no sin.
And I can play the game of life to win.’

Goin’ Back.
Lyrics by Carole King and Gerry Goffin
Sung by Dusty.

A peaceful weekend to each of you.

With love
