Weekend Read 18 July 2020
Hello and good morning. I know that quite a few of you are reading this in bed with a cup of tea or coffee, which makes me smile rather a lot. One person who won’t be in bed is Shabir. Nope, he will soon be on the phone, I’m guessing by about 9 am, telling me yet again that I am borderline certifiable. And after last week’s Fulvic moment, which of course went off-the-Richter-scale-bonkers, it may well be earlier today. Except I don’t really listen. So this week I’ve decided we will throw the headline focus on Vitamin C. And I’m doing it with two of his formulations. I cannot tell you the joy this will bring me. Let’s do it:
I don’t really think that Vitamin C Serum 23% + Ferulic Acid needs any kind of introduction. It was one of the first formulations Shabir created for our Garden of Wisdom range. It has been our bestselling beauty product since we launched it and has been hailed here, there and everywhere as being rather fabulous. I think the price has something to do with it. It’s £10. And it works. Quite a few months ago now, Shabir decided he wanted to formulate another Vitamin C. We called it C-Deep, Shabir wrote the article on it and it is no surprise that so many of you are now using C-Deep. Actually rather a lot of you are using both. Vit C 23% in the morning and C-Deep in the evening. We like it that way.
You just know what I’m going to do here. Please don’t spill your tea or coffee as I tell you we are going full-on-C. C-Deep Vitamin C Serum is £18 for 30 ml. So I’ve put both C formulations together at a cost of £18 for both. Which means you get Vit C 23% free. If you don’t know about C-Deep, please refer to Shabir’s article linked below. I love it. You also need to know that Vit C 23% is in temporary packaging. It’s still the full size of 30 ml, but as I wrote a few weeks ago, there are packaging issues across brands because of the pandemic. I can live with that. Actually there is no choice, so I will just say that this is a Saturday only treat and it will end at midnight GMT (Saturday 18 July) if it lasts that long. Hit the link below to join in. And please smile when you do it. For Shabir.
Vitamin C Treat £18 (includes C-Deep Vitamin C Serum and Vitamin C Serum 23% + Ferulic Acid); Is Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate The Best Vitamin C Serum?
Right, that’s topical Vitamin C covered. Now we’ll do the supplementation. In other words, the health/beauty crossover. We have been recommending Liposomal Vitamin C for rather a long time. Liposomal technology makes it easier for cells to absorb Vitamin C, making it far more powerful than capsules. Basically whenever our immune system goes into overdrive to help deal with infection, it very quickly burns through the Vitamin C circulating in our bodies. Supplementing with Vitamin C helps your immune system fight infection and ups the ante on immunity, which is so very important.
Liposomal Vitamin C is one of those groundbreaking supplements. It is gentle on the stomach and each sachet (15 ml) contains 1000 mg of Vitamin C. This can be taken straight or mixed with water, smoothies or shakes. I’ll take it shaken and stirred. As if it was a cocktail. Someone, somewhere will be shaking as I announce another treat. This time it goes right across the weekend and will end tomorrow at midnight GMT (Sunday 19 July). So what’s the treat. I am taking £10 off the price. So instead of £39.99, it becomes £29.99. Whilst stock lasts. This gets better by the moment. Go.
Liposomal Vitamin C by YourZooki £29.99 for 30 x 15 ml Sachets (whilst stock lasts)
Well, well, it’s a Leave-In Love-In. I am of course talking about the launch of It’s A Ten in the UK. So when Jo Fairley wrote that the Leave-In products turned her feelings about leave-in conditioners upside down (in a good way), I can now tell you that so many of you concur. It really is a leave-in revolution and if there is going to be a revolution, nothing gives me greater pleasure that doing this with each of you. And we haven’t really even started yet. But what we have started is a revolution in gifting and sampling. We continue to gift the original Miracle Leave-In Conditioner, worth £11, with every order placed for It’s A Ten. This is so much fun. And the fun includes the fact that every day can be a good hair day. Mood elevating haircare perhaps. I believe so. Do try. And that Miracle Hair Mask is something else.
It’s A Ten
Not a lot gives me greater pleasure than a success story. Launching a new brand can be pretty daunting. It is a huge responsibility and it can make or break dreams. I’ve always been aware of that. Making all our dreams come true are the Healing Patches by Ross J. Barr. The feedback we are receiving is nothing short of phenomenal. They mend pain. I have doled them out to friends with issues. They now want more. They can’t have them. We had loads and now they have almost gone. But not for long, I expect them to be back in stock within seven to ten days. And please let me tell you that this is one wait list I really don’t mind having. It demonstrates the need and the efficacy. It is also the beginning of a long-time dream. For the love of Ross.
Healing Patches by Ross J. Barr £15 for Five Patches
Let’s do a couple of health concerns. The first is Fibromyalgia. The symptoms of Fibromyalgia are widespread ranging from chronic pain, multiple tender points in joints and muscles, sleep disturbances, extreme fatigue, stress and anxiety. A couple more facts. It is thought that 90% of sufferers are female (for heavens sake) and that a high percentage may also have Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), suggesting a food allergy component may be implicated. In his archived article, now resurrected, Shabir goes through each of the symptoms and recommends his best-in-class products. For joints and muscles it will always be Superior Joints (it’s epic) so read the lowdown on that. Personally I would also slap on a Healing Patch for added pain relief. But they weren’t born when Shabir wrote this. They are now.

Migraines come next. The words on migraines are not mine. They were sent to Shabir from a customer after he recommended two products to be taken in conjunction with each other, Neuro-Mag and Migra-Eeze. For the sake of transparency I have shortened the words sent for confidentiality reasons, but I hope that in the sharing, this will help so many of you who experience migraines:
‘I last contacted you mid-May, following a successful first month taking Neuro-Mag and Migra-Eeze. I am just about to finish my third month and yesterday, had a telephone follow-up appointment with my Primary Care Headache Clinic GP, who was the one that recommended Riboflavin in the first place. I am delighted to say the combination of the two supplements has been astounding, nothing short of a miracle. Despite all that has been going on with the stress of Covid, since starting this new regime, I have had NO migraines and none of the ghastly associated nausea, vomiting and needing to sleep in the middle of the day. Unheard of.
This is the first time in around 15 years I have had such a lengthy period migraine-free. I have also managed to slowly come off Dosulepin, which I was taking for a number of years as a migraine preventative. The only conventional medication I am now taking for migraine is Propranolol, with Zomig on hand should the need arise. Such a positive success story, I just wish more migraine sufferers were aware of these two products, rather than spending years as I did, going down the road of Amitriptyline, Topiramate, Gabapentin, Sodium Valproate, Epilim Chrono…..on and on with little or no benefit’. My thanks as ever to those of you who share with such love and generosity. It touches me deeply. Always.
Neuro-Mag by Life Extension £32 for 90 Capsules; Migra-Eeze by Life Extension £25 for 60 Softgels
Can we just talk about product famines for a moment. There are an awful lot of them. In the whole scheme of things I don’t expect any kind of normality to return for some time yet. I am not fear-driven, but I do have my feet on the ground and I am a realist. The pandemic has of course knocked everything sideways and there are some brands that aren’t going to make it. In all honesty, I think there is much more disruption to come, so I am making a call for patience and understanding. In that understanding, businesses have had to close and are now only re-grouping; raw ingredient issues are very real and ongoing and a lack of cash flow can doom a business into oblivion. We have been doing our very best to keep each of you informed of delays, but it’s a daunting task because the goal-posts keep changing, so please bear with. It’s the niche brands that I truly care about. Its always been that way.
So back into stock come the Chapter One Gummies. And they arrive with two new products. Magnesium Gummies and Iron Gummies. With good nutrition being so crucial during a child’s formative years, these vegan and kosher certified gummies fill in the gaps of nutritional deficits. They taste great (yes I’ve tried them) and in some unnamed (if you don’t mind) households, they are known as ‘magic beans’. Gill’s magic beans to be precise. Ending. Now.
Chapter One Gummies; Magnesium Gummies £15 for 60 Gummies; Iron Gummies £16 for 60 Gummies
As from Monday it will be mandatory to wear a face mask when shopping. For the record, we have all been wearing masks for your safety as well as our own. And we will continue to do so. I just want to say here, before you ask, that we will not be stocking masks, unless they conform in price and efficacy. Over the past few months I have tried ever so hard not to have a rant, so I will just say this. I have been appalled at the opportunists of this world who have constantly been bombarding me with all forms of PPE (at extortionate prices) to list on our site and that would include those who were ‘flogging’ Covid-19 test kits quite early on, which obviously didn’t work. I don’t name and shame, call-out culture (aka bullying) is certainly not my style, but shame on the whole lot of you. You know who you are. How you sleep at night is beyond me. So I ask, please be vigilant when buying masks. And it leads to another treat.
And it would have to be a mask. A Spacemask to be precise. Once again Spacemasks need no introduction from me. We launched them. We love them. They warm and alleviate strain on your eyes. They calm you down and relax your mind. So when you buy a packet of Spacemasks, we will automatically throw in one extra mask free of charge. This will not show up on your order confirmation or invoice, just so you know. And based on my rant above I should probably put a Spacemask across my mouth too. Except I won’t be silenced. Ever. I’m just trying to behave at the moment. Until I don’t. Anyway, Spacemasks rock. Waving to Harriet. The Founder. Good morning.
Spacemasks £15 For Five Spacemasks
Two new products from Lamberts. Not for us, but for cats and dogs. And they are excellent formulations according to Shabir who knows these things. The first is High Potency Omega 3s, which will ensure that your pet receives a regular intake of EPA and DHA fatty acids. These are the nutrients that are often missing from pet foods, but they are essential for the healthy development of your pets and for maintaining joint health in dogs. The second is Chewable Glucosamine Complex, which helps your pet get a recommended daily intake of glucosamine sulphate and vitamins C and E. All recommended dosages are on the product pages and just to follow through, do check out the Ila pet range too. Three divine products for dogs. Peaceful Pooches; Shampoo and Paw Wash and Doggy Mist. Woof.
High Potency Omega 3s for Cats and Dogs £8.95 for 120 Capsules; Chewable Glucosamine Complex for Dogs and Cats £8.95 for 90 Tablets; Ilapet
After the hugely successful launch of Peak Focus, which is totally brilliant for cognitive function, Viridian Nutrition have done it again and released another new outstanding formulation. This time it’s a probiotic powder designed especially for expectant mothers during pregnancy, post-natally and also for infants. Synerbio Mother and Baby provides friendly bacteria in the form of Lactobacillus rhanmosus GG, which is the best documented strain of good bacteria. A full spectrum prebiotic is included in the formulation and is sourced from Chicory.
Synerbio Mother and Baby £25.55 for 30 grams; Peak Focus £32.20 for 60 Capsules
Leaving supplementation and skincare on one side, the three most wanted products since I started writing weekly are, in no particular order, the more-than-miraculous Foot File, which now comes in various colours, the Tweezy for unwanted facial hair and of course Fulvic Acid Nail Cream. Each and every day I get several emails about how Fulvic has transformed nails. Several weeks ago I wrote that you could use for fungal nails, such a huge concern and it really works. If you want to do the inside/out approach for fungal infections, Horopito and Aniseed is now back in stock. It’s brilliant stuff. And it works exceptionally well for vaginal thrush too. Cue another article from Shabir. On the subject. Linked below.
Foot File £11.95; The Tweezy Facial Hair Remover £10; Fulvic Acid Nail Cream £12 for 30 ml; Horopito and Aniseed by Kolorex £23 for 60 Capsules; Vaginal Thrush
Nearly the end, so it must be time for the Saturday only treat. With every order placed today (Saturday 18 July) for £20 and over, we will automatically include a packet of tea. Not just any tea (I sound like that advert), but Aduna’s Vitality Super-Tea. An infusion of Baobab, Ginger and Lemon, it is exceptionally rich in Vitamin C and antioxidants. Sip it hot or have it iced. It’s a buzz tea and please be aware that this will not show up on your confirmation or invoice. Thanks.
This week Jo Fairley reveals that she has started to talk to her plants. She states that she is perfectly aware that there is a household frenzy gripping the nation, so do take the time to read about how her house has turned into a jungle.
It’s A Jungle In Here by Jo Fairley
All that remains is for me to wish each of you a peaceful weekend.
My continued thanks for all your amazing emails.
Be safe. Be well.
